After an all-you-can-eat buffet of touchdowns in NFL Week 1, and Thursday night when the Buffalo Bills hosted the Detroit Lions and came out on top 41-31, yesterday was quieter, as underdogs and defenses came out swinging.
Tonight’s Monday Night Football game features the New York Giants (1-0) vs. the Rams (0-1) at 8:15 p.m. EST at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
The Rams are looking to wash away the bad taste from the Australia game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10, where they inexplicably flew into Melbourne 24 hours before the game, didn’t adjust, and got blown out 27-7.
The Rams are still futures favourites to win the Super Bowl, at +650, but the Bills have closed to +700.
Rams quarterback and defending league MVP Matthew Stafford threw for just 155 yards and no TDs in that game.
Then there’s Aaron Donald’s return tonight, with the multiple Pro Bowler set to make his comeback to the NFL after ending his two-year retirement.
That’s key for the Rams since Myles Garrett is now on injured reserve after knee surgery. How coach Sean McVay utilizes the 35-year-old’s workload is a big question for bettors.
The Giants, meanwhile, are still flying high off that 28-20 upset win over the Dallas Cowboys in John Harbaugh’s debut as head coach on Sept. 13. We’ll find out more tonight if that win represented a genuine step forward for the Giants.
Giants QB Jaxson Dart avoided turnovers and was only sacked twice – significant if you’re looking at that Giants +6.5 number.
You also have to factor in Dart’s mobility – he dashed for 54 yards against Dallas.
Another target on the prop end for the Giants is TE Isaiah Likely, who caught eight passes for 78 yards and two TDs last week and should be a legitimate red zone target again tonight.

Giants vs Rams Odds
In NFL betting at Betway, Los Angeles is a heavy -330 moneyline favourite, with New York at +260. The Rams are 6.5-point favourites at -115, while the Giants are +6.5 at -105. The total is set at 47.5, with both the over and under priced at -110.
The market clearly favours a Rams win, but the point spread suggests a more competitive game than the moneyline might indicate. The 6.5-point spread lets bettors take the Rams instead of that steep moneyline premium, while staying below the key number of 7.
On the injury front, for the Rams, S Kamren Kinchens (hamstring) is out, while WR Puka Nacua (hip) is questionable (he didn’t practice Friday or Saturday) and WR Jordan Whittington (quadriceps) is doubtful.
On the Giants side, CB Deonte Banks (calf) is questionable after missing practices Friday and Saturday, as is LB Micah McFadden (neck).
But Nacua is the big one, since his status could materially affect that Rams spread and the total.
Giants vs Rams Betting Trends
The Rams were excellent ATS at home in 2025 – 6-2, tops in the NFL. The Rams averaged 28.9 points at home last season.
However, the bigger the spread, the less reliable they were – at -7.5 or greater, they were only 3-3 ATS last season. That’s notable looking at tonight’s -6.5.
On the otherhand, despite finishing the season 4-13, the Giants went 7-7-1 ATS as an underdog. They were big underdogs against Denver (+7.5) and Detroit (+13) but covered those games.
Giants vs Rams Betting Picks
Looking at my NFL picks for tonight, I am taking the under 47.5 at -110. The Rams offence looked broken in Australia, and Nacua’s availability is a real question mark. The Giants can grind the clock with Cam Skattebo, and run long drives.
But my favourite pick is the Giants +6.5 (-105). New York looked very functional against the Cowboys, and while no one is booking any parades, if Dart can remain healthy, they’ll be upsetting their share of games this season.
Betway has Dart at 200+ passing yards at -150, and 225+ passing yards for plus money at +125. He went 23-for-29 against the Cowboys, for 230 yards. As a 6.5-point underdog, Dart will likely have to throw a lot. I think +125 is an attractive threshold/price combination.
I am also leaning toward Likely anytime touchdown at +275 – since he’s a clear focal point in Harbaugh’s offence now, combined with the Rams secondary missing Kinchens.
