Our NFL Week 2 player prop picks spotlight Sunday’s best bets, featuring expert analysis, key trends and top prop bets across the slate
Here we are, Week 2 of the NFL, with a full slate of games through tonight’s Sunday night affair between the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs, then tomorrow night’s game between the New York Giants and the Rams at SoFi Stadium in California.
If you’re focusing on NFL betting player props for today’s bets, I’d start with the injury report.
All ruled out for today: WR Zay Flowers of the Ravens (hamstring), WR Nico Collins of the Texans (hamstring), WR A.J. Brown of the Patriots (ankle), WR Michael Pittman of the Steelers (foot), QB Kyler Murray of the Vikings (concussion), QB Sam Darnold of the Seahawks (glute), QB Michael Penix Jr. of the Falcons (knee), WR Ja’Kobi Lane of the Ravens (wrist), TE Chig Okonkwo of the Commanders (hamstring), RB Jordan and Mason of the Vikings (thumb).
As the morning plays out, there’s a chance these players won’t be able to start, according to ESPN, so keep an eye on the wires for updates when making your NFL picks: QB Joe Burrow (Bengals), RB TreVeyon Henderson (Patriots), WR Jalen Coker (Panthers), RB Alvin Kamara (Saints), TE Brock Bowers (Raiders), WR Ladd McConkey (Chargers), WR Brian Thomas Jr. (Jaguars), TE George Kittle (49ers), RB Kaelon Black (49ers), WR Puka Nacua (Giants).
Those will all affect volume for the players who are out there.
When scanning the player prop opportunities, look at usage first, then matchup, injuries, game script, and then value in the prop number.
Here are my NFL Week 2 player prop picks as you get set for another exciting week.
NFL Week 2 Player Prop Trends
These often revolve around Week 1 overreactions and matchup adjustments. Bettors chase hot Week 1 performers, like big rushing or receiving games. Books like Betway will set lines accordingly, creating value on unders or bounce-backs.
Popular leans in Week 2 are always anytime touchdown scorers who scored in Week 1, overs on elite receivers facing weak secondaries, and unders on QBs in blowout spots where teams run more.
Potential blowouts today are the 49ers over the Dolphins, Ravens over the Saints, and Buccaneers over the Browns. Have a close look at player prop opportunities in those three games, especially.
Typically, Week 2 is the first time bettors get clearer regular-season information about snap share, carries, routes, targets and red-zone usage.
Best NFL Week 2 Running Back Props
Derrick Henry, Ravens, Over 96.5 rushing yards (-115)
Up against the Saints, at home, 7.5-point home favourites, this sets up as one of our blowouts, as I said, a game where Henry could feast. He was in beast mode last week – 144 yards on 24 carries, three TDs. The Saints gave up 156 rushing yards to the Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs.
Bijan Robinson, Falcons, Over 130.5 rushing and receiving yards (-125)
Robinson produced boffo volume against the Steelers last week – 83 rushing yards and 90 receiving yards (29 touches overall). Carolina gave up 291 rushing yards in their opener. Robinson has also hit over 128.5 yards from scrimmage in two of his past three games against Carolina (including 143 yards when the teams last met last November).
Best NFL Week 2 Wide Receiver Props
George Pickens, Cowboys, Over 64.5 receiving yards (-115)
The Cowboys-Commanders game has one of the higher totals today (50.5), and Dallas will have more opportunity to attack at home, looking for a bounceback after the surprising Week 1 loss to the Giants.
Dalton Schultz, Texans, Over 4.5 receptions. (-150)
Another team looking for a bounceback win, after a loss to the Bills at home in Week 1. I like the setup for him with Collins out, creating more underneath opportunities and likely a bigger role and more targets.
Best NFL Week 2 Quarterback Props
Dak Prescott, Cowboys, Over 1.5 TDs (-200)
You might notice a Cowboys theme today. I just see a big game for them against the Commanders. Dallas was a Super Bowl pick in some quarters. That’s a higher-scoring environment.
Prescott to get 275+ passing yards is +110 at Betway this morning (250+ passing yards is -160). On the other side of the field, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to throw for 225+ passing yards is +100 and is getting a lot of action.
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs, Over 223.5 passing yards (-115)
I like Mahomes at that number, in line with projection models for him as high as 255.6 yards. That also sits well against his 256.2-yard average last season. The Chiefs are at home tonight, plus the Colts gave up 304 passing yards in Week 1 against the Ravens.
Best Anytime Touchdown Props for Sunday
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley against the Titans (-110), looking at how the Titans gave up 142 yards rushing and two TDs against the Jets last week, and Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals wide receiver, versus the Texans today, since a quiet Week 1 pushed him into the plus money today (+125). I don’t see that happening in Week 2.
I am also looking at the Patriots’ Hunter Henry (+220), since injuries to their receiving corps should funnel more opportunities to the tight end.
