England Women take on Spain Women in the Euro 2025 final and goals could be hard to come by in this highly anticipated clash at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
The 2025 European champions will be crowned on Sunday evening, when holders England Women take on world champions Spain Women at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland.
England’s route to the final has been nothing less than thrilling, as they came from 2-0 down against Sweden in the quarter-finals to draw 2-2 and then eventually progress on penalties.
The Lionesses then snatched a 96th minute equaliser to draw 1-1 with Italy in the semi-finals before Chloe Kelly tucked home the rebound after her penalty in the 119th minute was initially saved.
As for Spain, a comfortable 2-0 quarter-final win over 10-player Switzerland was followed by a nail-biting 1-0 last-four victory over Germany, with Aitana Bonmati scoring in the 113th minute.
Sunday’s final will be a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final, which Spain edged 1-0.

Agyemang in the thick of things
One of England’s heroes in the knockout stages has been Michelle Agyemang, who had played just four minutes in the group before making her presence known in the last two matches.
The 19-year-old Arsenal ace came off the bench to score in both the quarter-final and semi-final and her performances have put pressure on teammate Alessia Russo, who hasn’t been firing on all cylinders.
Expected to be named among the substitutes again, Agyemang will likely be required at some stage and she looks capable of getting at least two shots away, something she managed against Sweden and Italy.

Guijarro to let fly
Another player that hasn’t been afraid to have a pop at goal is Spain midfielder Patricia Guijarro, who had four efforts in the last group game against Italy and the semi-final victory over Germany.
The 27-year-old likes to get forward and given England have not been at their best in defence, the Spanish ace should have plenty of opportunities to join the attack and get some shots at goal.
Leg 2: Patricia Guijarro to have 3+ shots @ 21/10
Don’t expect a goal-fest
Although there have been a combined 32 goals scored by these two in Switzerland (15 England, 17 Spain), the final may be a more nervous affair and this could result in less than 2.5 goals in normal time.
Just one strike was scored when the pair met in the 2023 World Cup final, and that was the second time in the last three meetings that there have been fewer than three goals.
It’s also worth noting that two of the last three European finals have produced fewer than three goals in regulation time, and a similar outcome is expected on Sunday.
Leg 3: Under 2.5 goals @ 19/20
