Premier League tips: Best bets for Liverpool v Tottenham

Rob Eddy's tips for Sunday's clash at Anfield include a win for Jurgen Klopp's side with goals at both ends.

Liverpool and Tottenham will be hoping to emerge from end-of-season ruts when they step out at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds had been hoping to send Jurgen Klopp on his way with the Premier League title but that dream has been dashed after a number of recent setbacks.

And Spurs’ challenge for a Champions League return in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge has been wrecked by a three-game losing streak which they could do with ending this weekend.

Games between these two old rivals are rarely dull and back the pair of them to cut through the gloom by laying on a treat.

Selections:

Liverpool & Both Teams to Score /
Trent Alexander-Arnold 1+ Shot on Target /
Under 4.5 cards /

Red Wall to survive in goals onslaught

Liverpool and Tottenham are limping towards the line but expect them to lay on an eye-catching contest this weekend.

Matches between these two are rarely dull with goals almost a given, and this time round take Liverpool to outscore their guests. The Reds and Both Teams To Score makes perfect sense at 6/5.

These two met at this stage of last season and Liverpool won on that occasion 4-3. Both teams have scored in each of the last seven meetings between them.

And if Liverpool have lost their mojo in recent weeks with upsets at the hands of Atalanta, Crystal Palace and Everton, they will never lose that attacking mindset. And having enjoyed the rarity of a week off since Saturday’s 2-2 draw at West Ham, they should be firing on all cylinders.

Spurs have lost three in a row, shipping 10 goals, and played on Thursday in a 2-0 loss at Chelsea.

They will need to pick themselves up but again, Postecoglou, like Klopp, will not compromise his attacking instincts. Liverpool’s defence is vulnerable and while the hosts get the nod as Tottenham wilt, they can find the net.

Trent bent on testing Tottenham

Liverpool had 21 shots in the 1-0 loss to Palace and 23 in the 2-0 defeat at Everton, more than enough to win matches twice over.

Last weekend at West Ham they fired off 28 efforts but had to settle for a 2-2 draw. There is nothing wrong with their output, merely how clinical they are.

Trent Alexander-Arnold had four shots at the London Stadium on Saturday, two of them on target, and he looks fresher than most given the time off he had for his injury.

The England defender is averaging 1.5 shots per game and looks a nice price at 7/4 to get one on target against Spurs.

Both sides to be on their Sunday best

Tottenham have come through a pair of London derbies against bitter rivals Arsenal and Chelsea with a grand total of three yellow cards. Once upon a time that would have been unthinkable.

Only two teams have received fewer yellow cards than Liverpool this season and support the end-of-season feel about this one by backing under 4.5 cards at 10/11.
