Chelsea v Brighton tips
Chelsea made an eye-catching start to the season at Fulham last Monday and should fancy their chances of claiming another three points against Brighton.
The Blues’ front three of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers is as good as there is in the division, and the trio all seem to be on the same wavelength.
They can fire Xabi Alonso’s side to victory against a Brighton, who are strong but were in action in the Conference League on Thursday night.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side were also perhaps flattered by a 4-0 win against an Aston Villa side in terrible shape last weekend, so this is their first real test.
The Seagulls have scored three goals in each of their last three meetings between the sides, though, so let’s back Chelsea with both teams to score at 21/10 .
Leeds United v Brentford tips
This game between two of the most impressive mid-table sides is extremely tough to call, but the prices mean Leeds should be favoured.
Both teams are priced up evenly, suggesting Brentford would be considered much the better of the two on neutral turf, and that does Daniel Farke’s side a disservice.
Both sides picked up 27 points from their final 20 games of last season, the seventh-best tally in the division, and both look in good shape heading into this season.
For Leeds, though, the opening pair of wins at Nottingham Forest are perhaps a greater standard-bearer than Brentford’s results, against a Tottenham side that are more of an unknown and second-tier Birmingham City.
Purely based on price, we’ll back the hosts at 6/4 .
Sunderland v Fulham tips
Despite losing to Chelsea in their opener, Fulham played well enough to suggest they could be a lot of fun this season.
Josh King – who Thomas Tuchel took to USA as part of England’s pre-World Cup camp in the summer – was particularly impressive against the Blues, while summer signing from Real Madrid Gonzalo Garcia scored in that defeat.
Garcia followed that up with another in the comfortable 3-0 beating of AFC Wimbledon on Thursday night, and his side suddenly look a threat heading up to the north-east.
Sunderland, by contrast, offered little in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Ipswich and there are suddenly doubts about how they will cope with their second season at the level.
Let’s back the Cottagers at 19/10 .
Manchester United v Ipswich Town tips
Manchester United looked very vulnerable at Hull City last weekend but will surely step things up a little here.
Marcus Rashford could come back into the starting XI for the visit of Ipswich, and a front four featuring him, Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will cause problems.
United to win & both teams to score was a bet that won in five of their last six games at Old Trafford last season, and that’s what we’ll back here, too.
Ipswich, with impressive attacker Julio Enciso in their side, pose a threat – and can be backed to score but lose at 2/1 .
