Hamburg v Freiburg: Struggling sides have to gamble in relegation scrap

With both sides desperate for points to escape a relegation battle, expect plenty of action from these normally goal-shy sides

Hamburg vs. Freiburg: Struggling sides have to gamble in relegation scrap With both sides desperate for points to escape a relegation battle, expect plenty of action from these fighting sides

1) Freiburg have failed to score just once in their last six games, whilst their opponents Hamburg have conceded at least one goal in their last seven games – a run stretching back to the start of March. They are 4/11 to continue that poor run by conceding to Freiburg on Friday.

2) Freiburg’s on-loan top scorer Nils Petersen has netted three in his last two matches. The German striker is 11/2 to add to that tally by scoring against Hamburg at anytime.

3) Hamburg have the worst attack in the league – they have scored just 21 times all season, an average of 0.68 per game, which is less than half the league average of 1.39 goals per game.

4)Furthermore, their top scorers for the season; Rafael van der Vaart and Pierre-Michel Lasogga have just four goals apiece – and three of van der Vaart’s goals have come from the penalty spot.

5) However Die Rothosen are showing signs of improvement – after a run of five defeats without managing a single goal, Hamburg have scored five times in their last two matches. With their opponents having conceded seven in their last three, it is worth backing the home side to continue their rich vein of scoring form by scoring more than 1.5 goals, priced at EVENS.

6) Freiburg are slow starters, and have gone into halftime losing 1-0 in 10 of their 31 games this season. Christian Streich’s men are 13/4 to go into the break trailing by that scoreline again.

7) However they may have hope of turning it around – Freiburg have scored 60% of their goals in the second half, whilst their hosts have conceded 64% of their goals in the second half. Expect a late flurry goals, and back the second half to have the most goals at 21/20.
