As a new EFL season kicks off, we analyse the most popular title winner bets across the Championship, League One and League Two, revealing which clubs Betway customers are backing the most.
The opening weekend of the EFL campaign is almost here and Betway customers have been placing their predictions on which teams will be celebrating winning the title in their respective leagues come next May.
Some recent Premier League clubs are among the most popular selections in the Championship, while there is also strong support for some of the biggest clubs in League One and League Two.
Most popular Championship winner bets
West Ham are the clear pick among Betway customers in the Championship winner betting market, attracting 31% of all bets.
With almost a third of all wagers in the market, punters have backed the Hammers to secure an immediate return to the Premier League at the first attempt by topping the table.
Despite starting the season with a four-point deduction, Southampton are the second-most backed team in the title betting market, accounting for 13% of bets. Saints face an uphill battle before a ball has been kicked, but Betway customers are still confident they can overcome that setback and triumph under Tonda Eckert.
Wolves complete the top three with 12% of bets. Like West Ham, Wolves were relegated from the Premier League last season but have received plenty of support from Betway customers who expect them to bounce straight back up to the top flight with a first-place finish.
Most popular League One winner bets
Leicester City are the standout selection in the League One winner betting market, receiving 29% of all bets.
The Foxes are one of the division’s biggest clubs, having won the Premier League just a decade ago, and nearly three in every 10 bets have been placed on Leicester to make an immediate return to the Championship by winning the title.
Luton Town are the second-most backed side with 13% of bets. Another side who were recently in the Premier League, the Hatters are expected by many Betway customers to challenge towards the top of League One.
Sheffield Wednesday rank third with 12% of League One winner bets. The Owls boast one of the largest fanbases in the division and continue to attract plenty of support in the market.
Most popular League Two winner bets
Salford City dominate the League Two winner betting market, accounting for a remarkable 42% of all bets.
Salford have attracted almost half of all wagers in the market, making them comfortably the most-backed title winner selection across all three EFL divisions.
Behind Salford, Bristol Rovers and York City are tied as the second-most backed teams, each receiving 9% of League Two winner bets.
Bristol Rovers are being backed to respond positively after relegation from League One, while York have generated significant interest as they target a return to the third tier.
EFL outright treble
A treble on West Ham to win the Championship, Leicester to win League One and Salford City to win League Two is currently priced at 53/1 with Betway, offering a sizeable return for bettors who believe all three clubs can justify the confidence shown in them ahead of the new season.
