The Championship kicks into gear on Saturday and the second tier highlights a stacked Saturday of domestic football.
We have put together an EFL four-fold which pays out at odds of 15/1 in the football betting.
Selections
Watford to beat Charlton @ 9/5
QPR to beat Preston @ 13/10
Bolton to beat Plymouth @ 13/20
Crawley to beat Newport @ 8/15
Watford to beat Charlton @ 9/5
There’s a buzz around Vicarage Road this season with new boss Paulo Pezzolano in charge and Watford adding some interesting players to their squad in the summer.
Luca Kjerrumgaard, Vivaldo Semedo, Nestory Irankunda and Othmane Maamma are exciting young arrivals and the Golden Boys will be looking to improve on last season’s 13th-place finish.
Charlton have been busy in the transfer market too, but the Addicks finished only fourth in League One last term and promotion to the second tier will demand a lot more of Nathan Jones’ men.
At 9/5, Watford rate as the best play on Saturday’s EFL card.
QPR to beat Preston @ 13/10
Preston have collected 64, 63, 63 and 50 points in the last four Championship seasons and the Lilywhites are a side in decline.
Paul Heckingbottom’s men finished only one point off the relegation zone in 20th place last term and won only one of their final 15 league games of the campaign.
Julien Stephan has taken charge at QPR and the Hoops will hope for progress under the former Rennes manager.
The R’s lost only four of their final 15 home games last term and they should be tough to beat at Loftus Road.
Bolton to beat Plymouth @ 13/20
Plymouth have seen a huge turnover of players in the summer and stars from last season Maksym Taloverov, Ryan Hardie, Adam Randell and Mustapha Bundu have all left the club.
Inexperienced gaffer Tom Cleverley has been handed a tough gig at Home Park and Argyle were beaten 3-1 at home by Barnsley in their League One opener.
Bolton really should have taken something from last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Stockport and the Trotters are fancied to come out on top when the Pilgrims come to town.
Crawley to beat Newport @ 8/15
Newport picked up a 1-1 draw with Notts County on the opening weekend of the League Two season, but the Exiles managed only one shot on target in that Rodney Parade contest and David Hughes’ men may be in trouble this season.
The South Wales side lost some key players in the summer, investment has been lacking and this is a side who collected only 10 points from their final 16 matches of last season.
Hosts Crawley Town should have few issues picking up their first victory of the campaign on Saturday.
