‘The Governess’ has been ranked the show’s ultimate Chaser with a 79% win rate over 506 show appearances.
Since its debut on ITV in 2009, The Chase has become a TV phenomenon and grown into one of Britain’s most successful game shows.
Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the format pits teams of contestants against tough opponents known as the Chasers, who are elite professional quizzers armed with an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything and anything. All in the hopes of bagging a cash prize.
Among these formidable figures are Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Darragh Ennis, and Shaun Wallace. Each brings a unique style to the table, and all share an ability to handle relentless, high-pressure questions across a range of topics.
But one question remains: who truly is the ultimate Chaser?
New research by Betway’ online casino team has analysed key performance metrics, including accuracy, win rate, and the highest targets caught in the Final Chase.
Taking the top spot is Anne Hegerty. Across an impressive 506 appearances, she boasts an exceptional accuracy rate of 84.9% and a win rate of 79.8%. Contestants facing her typically need an average target of 19.5 to stand a chance of victory, while she answers an average of 12.91 questions during the tense 60-second final round.

In second place is Mark Labbett, who has appeared 515 times on the show. Known for his commanding presence, the average target required to beat him is 20. His accuracy sits just behind Hegerty’s at 83.2%, and he has a win rate of 75.7%, but he compensates with remarkable speed, answering an average of 13.51 questions per round.
Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha comes in third, matching Hegerty’s 84.9% accuracy rate across 476 appearances. He also boasts a strong win rate of 78.6%. Despite Hegerty being the top Chaser, Paul was revealed as the highest earner – raking in £19,096.
Jenny Ryan may find herself in fourth place, but she is still a hard Chaser to beat, with the highest win rate behind Anne’s at 79.3%.
Perhaps one of the most impressive names on the list is newcomer Darragh Ennis. Joining The Chase in 2020 after first dazzling viewers as a contestant, he has quickly established himself as a strong Chaser. Despite just 118 appearances, Ennis has achieved an outstanding accuracy rate of 84.5%, alongside a win rate of 76.3%.
