New research found the former TOWIE star , Mark Wright, is Strictly’s most successful former contestant.
Strictly Come Dancing remains one of the most hotly anticipated TV events of the year, and each year millions tune in to watch a fresh batch of celebrities take to the dancefloor in a bid to lift the iconic Glitterball Trophy.
The show’s popularity doesn’t just entertain, it also has the power to transform contestants from lesser known stars into household names. But with so many memorable contestants since its launch in 2004, which former Strictly star has gone on to become the most successful of them all?
New research by Betway Casino has looked at some of the biggest stars from the show, measuring their success by comparing their net worth, Instagram followers, IMDb nominations and IMDb wins, to determine the overall most successful contestant.
Coming out on top is former TOWIE star Mark Wright. The 38-year old – who has an estimated net worth of £13,851,512, was a surprise pick for the 12th series back in 2014, given Strictly’s previous ban on reality stars.
Mark may not have won the show, instead placing fourth in the grand finale with professional partner Karen Hauer, but the show was the perfect springboard for his next career step, and within a few years, he had moved to LA to work as a host on Extra.
In second spot is Peter Andre. Following a successful pop career in the 90s, the 52-year old wowed the nation with his stint on Strictly in 2015 as he partnered up with former professional dancer Janette Manrara.
Alesha Dixon is third among the most successful Strictly stars. When she won the series with professional partner Matthew Cutler, she achieved platinum success with her next album, became a judge on Strictly, and has served as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since 2012.
