There’s plenty of competitive action to look forward to in Britain and Ireland on Saturday, with a total of seven meetings, and Newmarket the star attraction with the 2000 Guineas.
It’s another bumper day of racing action to look forward to on Saturday, with no fewer than six UK meetings and one in Ireland.
The standout card takes place at Newmarket, with nine races in total at HQ, including the 2026 edition of the 2000 Guineas.
There’s also a strong afternoon meeting at Goodwood, as well as flat cards at Doncaster and Thirsk, whilst they go over the jumps at Uttoxeter and Hexham.
The sole Irish meeting is a mixed eight-race card at Punchestown, including two Listed races and two Grade 1 contests.
Below are our four horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.
Saturday Lucky 15 racing tips
- 13:45 Newmarket – Double Rush @ 4/5
- 14:20 Newmarket – Botanical @ 13/2
- 15:35 Newmarket – Bow Echo @ 4/1
- 17:30 Punchestown – Jump Allen @ 9/4
13:45 Newmarket – Double Rush @ 4/5
The second race on Newmarket’s card sees 10 runners going to post, with Andrew Balding’s Double Rush expected to go off favourite for the 6f Handicap.
The four-year-old romped to a four-and-three-quarter length success in a course-and-distance victory last time out, a performance that seemed to signify this charge as a potential Group horse.
A 5lb penalty to carry doesn’t seem enough to stop Double Rush from claiming another success at HQ on Saturday.
14:20 Newmarket – Botanical @ 13/2
A strong run at Doncaster on debut for Karl Burke, Botanical is expected to go well over the longer trip of 1m 1f.
The six-year-old went close to winning the John Smith’s Cup at York two years ago and under the guidance of Clifford Lee, back fit after five months out of the saddle, should run a big race.
15:35 Newmarket – Bow Echo @ 4/1
Bow Echo goes into Saturday’s 2000 Guineas unbeaten in his three races to date, which includes a Group 2 victory at Newmarket in September.
George Boughey’s charge, who has improved in each of his three starts, has been pleasing connections in his work in the build up to the big race.
The three-year-old will have Billy Loughane on board and the jockey will feel he can claim his first Classic success on board this Night Of Thunder colt.
17:30 Punchestown – Jump Allen @ 9/4
One major factor in this selection is the booking of jockey Paul Townend, who doesn’t ride in many handicap races but has decided to guide Jump Allen around the 2m 4½f trip.
The Willie Mullins-trained gelding has only had one run so far this season, when he finished third in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham.
He stayed on well that day and was a little unlucky when hampered at the final fence, and should improve for that run.
Jump Allen won a good handicap at Sandown last season, going off 5/1 that day, and some believe the handicapper has yet to catch up with him.
