We have a very busy Saturday ahead of us on the racing front, with eight meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland.
Racing fans couldn’t ask for much more on Saturday and there are eight meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, with both Flat and National Hunt action on offer.
The Curragh hosts the fourth Irish Classic of the season on Saturday and a field of 11 has been declared for the Irish Oaks. Impressive Epsom winner Thundering On is amongst the field and she could be worth taking on after flopping in the Pretty Polly Stakes last time.
Our expert has picked out three strong fancies to follow across the day and chief amongst them is an Aidan O’Brien runner in the big race of the day. The filly in question failed to fire at Epsom but should find conditions more to her liking this time around.
Below are our three horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.
Saturday horse racing tips
15:25 Curragh – Rosy Affair @ 3/1
15:37 Newbury – Rollthedicebaby @ 15/2
16:35 Curragh – Amelia Earhart @ 5/1
15:25 Curragh – Rosy Affair @ 3/1
A competitive field has been assembled for the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes and there’s a British raider who catches the eye. George Boughey is having an excellent season and ROSY AFFAIR can add to his tally of big race wins by getting the job done at the Curragh.
Progressive towards the back end of last season, she was a comfortable winner of a Pontefract Listed contest, before launching a successful raid in France. Boughey’s filly showed a good attitude to win a Deauville Group 3 by just shy of a length.
Second on seasonal debut at Newmarket, she then landed a Listed contest at Haydock and produced an excellent performance to finish fourth in the King Charles III Stakes. It would be unwise to rule out another big run from the four-year-old.
15:37 Newbury – Rollthedicebaby @ 15/2
Richard Hannon has won the Super Sprint three times in the last decade and clearly knows what it takes to come out on top in this race. He is set to have three runners in this year’s renewal and Sean Levey will be on board the promising ROLLTHEDICEBABY.
The daughter of Soldier’s Call was a relatively cheap purchase at £38,000 and that means she has a nice weight here. There was plenty to like about her debut effort, where she finished second at Goodwood, despite showing signs of greenness in the closing stages.
Bolting up over a furlong further at the same track next time, she won by almost four lengths, even though she was plenty keen enough in the early stages.
Returning to 5f should help her to settle and Richard Hannon’s filly will be doing her best work late on.
16:35 Curragh – Amelia Earhart @ 5/1
Aidan O’Brien is the trainer to follow in almost all of Britain and Ireland’s most prestigious races and that includes the Irish Oaks, which the great man has won eight times. He trains five of the 11 runners this time and the very smart AMELIA EARHART could be the one.
It took her a while to get off the mark as a two-year-old but connections were deliberately running her over inadequate trips. She made no mistake when upped to a mile for the first time on her final start last year, where she bolted up by seven lengths at Leopardstown.
The daughter of Camelot is out of a strong-staying mare and she improved to win on seasonal debut over an extended 1m3f in the Cheshire Oaks.
Things didn’t go to plan in the Oaks but she’s capable of much better and the conditions will be more suitable.
