Katie Walsh: My best bets for Day 2 at Cheltenham Festival 2025

The Betway ambassador runs through Wednesday's card at Cheltenham and picks out the horses she will have her eye on.

13:20 Turners Novices’ Hurdle

FINAL DEMAND / conducts himself very well for a young horse, and I loved the way he demolished the field at Leopardstown. You can’t knock the Dan Skelton horse, The New Lion, but Final Demand looked a beast and could give Willie yet another winner in this race.

14:00 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase

BALLYBURN / is the standout. I loved the way he got headed and then battled back to win with a little up his sleeve and I think now the field has cut up, he’s going to be very tough to beat.

15:20 Cross Country Chase

VANILLIER / has been given a real chance by the handicapper in the Cross-Country. He bolted up at Punchestown last time and has clearly been trained for this and I think he’s cracking each-way value.

16:00 Queen Mother Champion Chase

JONBON / is very short in the Champion Chase but he’s the most likely winner. If he and the first two favourites win, it could be a costly day for the bookmakers! He’s done nothing wrong this year but is very short and wouldn’t give me as much confidence as the other short-priced horses during the week. I do think Marine Nationale won’t be far away though.

17:20 Champion Bumper

I was lucky to win the Bumper a few years back on Relegate and I know how tough it is to win, so it’s hard to be confident, but COPACABANA / tore apart a field on his debut recently and could be very, very good. I was also very impressed with KALYPSOCHANCE / when he won a winners bumper at the back end of the year and has been put away for this.
