Ross O’Sullivan: My horses to watch on Day 2 at Cheltenham

The trainer and Betway ambassador gives his thoughts on four of the races on the second day of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.

13:20 Turners Novices’ Hurdle

FINAL DEMAND / is the one they all have to beat. He is a massive horse and looks to have a massive engine too. I think The New Lion is very good and he could be a Champion Hurdle horse in 12 months, as he has plenty of speed, but I think Final Demand will outstay him up the hill.

14:00 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase

BALLYBURN / has done little wrong in his career and this isn’t the strongest Brown Advisory I’ve ever seen. Better Days Ahead is improving and should finish close, but after looking back at Ballyburn’s runs, it’s hard to oppose him.

15:20 Cross Country Chase

VANILLIER / has done little wrong in his career and this isn’t the strongest Brown Advisory I’ve ever seen. Better Days Ahead is improving and should finish close, but after looking back at Ballyburn’s runs, it’s hard to oppose him.

16:40 Grand Annual

The Grand Annual is a tricky race as ever but, at a huge price, NELLS SON / could run into a place. He beat Unexpected Party at the start of the season off level weights, and then he beat a good horse called Matata. He’s run well at Cheltenham a few times and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him running well again.
