14:00 County Hurdle – WINNER: WILFUL
In the County Hurdle, it usually pays to follow Dan Skelton, though working out the pecking order can sometimes be tricky. This time Skelton has been forced to resort to Plan D, as three more obvious candidates fell by the wayside in the build‑up to the Festival – most notably Live Conti after an eye‑catching run at Windsor. Step forward SINNATRA / , who had the requisite fifth run to qualify when a long‑odds‑on favourite at Warwick and has the unusual profile of having had five starts but none in handicap company. Dan Skelton has queried whether Sinnatra is battle‑hardened enough for a race of this type, but he certainly has the potential to progress more than many in this field.

14:40 Mares’ Chase – WINNER: DINOBLUE
The Dan Skelton-trained PANIC ATTACK / has enjoyed a fabulous season and looks more than capable of serving it up to Willie Mullins’ Dinoblue, who bids for back-to-back wins in the Grade 2 Mares’ Chase. The 10-year-old has rattled off a perfect hat-trick this season, making it four wins in her last five starts, with victories in the Paddy Power Gold Cup here in November, the Coral Gold Cup (formerly the Hennessy) at Newbury and a facile success in mares’ only company back at the Berkshire track in January.
She’s gone from a mark of 135 to 147 this season, which still leaves her a fair bit to find with the 159-rated Dinoblue, who will be conceding 3lb. However, confidence in the Skelton camp is high – her owner Bryan Drew – already successful on Tuesday with Madara – certain she was his best chance of a winner this week.

15:20 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – WINNER: JOHNNY’S JURY
The Albert Bartlett has seen THEDEVILUNO / steadily shorten in the market over the last few weeks since he was put up ante‑post after his win at Doncaster. He was unsuited by the steady pace when beaten by Doctor Steinberg at Navan, and while I was hoping the Doc would head for the Turners, the greater test of stamina here should allow Thedeviluno to turn the tables. Plenty of potential lurkers could improve for the step up in trip, but Thedeviluno may have a touch of class.

16:00 Cheltenham Gold Cup – WINNER: GAELIC WARRIOR
Gaelic Warrior / heads into the Cheltenham Gold Cup as one of the most talented horses in the field and a leading contender for Willie Mullins.
The eight-year-old has built an excellent record over fences, winning six of his 12 starts and proving himself at the highest level across a range of trips.
His versatility has been one of his greatest strengths, having shown top-class form from two miles up to three miles, including major Grade 1 victories.
Last season he demonstrated his stamina when landing the Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree over 3m1f, confirming he stays on strongly.
His latest run saw him finish second to Fact To File in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown, where he ran a huge race and finished ahead of previous two-time Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs. That performance reads extremely well as that looked a strong race.
Before that he finished a very close third in the King George, behind The Jukebox Man, and with an extra two furlongs he should be capable of reversing that form.

16:40 Princess Royal Hunters’ Chase
The final two races come slightly after the Lord Mayor’s Show, but PANDA BOY / has won both his Hunter Chases having been a useful handicap chaser in his pomp, and could give John Gleeson a second Festival winner.
