AP McCoy 6/1 to retire on the spot if guiding Mr Mole to victory tomorrow

Last week’s Ayr success on Capard King 1/2 to be champ’s last winner

AP McCoy is 6/1 with us to retire on the spot if he signs off his fantastic career by landing a final Grade 1 on Mr Mole in the AP McCoy Celebration Chase at Sandown Park tomorrow afternoon (bets are losers should Mr Mole not win).

McCoy said he would immediately quit the saddle if he won the Grand National a fortnight ago and it wouldn’t be a big surprise should he abandon his final booked ride at 4.25pm on Box Office.

Mr Mole – the horse McCoy announced he was retiring on back in February – is our 7/2 favourite for the two-mile chase. The enigmatic gelding is 3/1 not to complete the race (includes being left at the start under orders), 100/30 to finish second and 6/4 to cross the winning line unplaced.

Box Office is the champion jockey’s second potential mount and we are offering 3/1 that both his rides are placed.

McCoy’s winner at Ayr over a week ago, Capard King, is 1/2 to be his last. Box Office is 9/2 and Mr Mole is 9/2.

Our PR Manager Alan Alger said: “Adding a final top-level win on Mr Mole to his illustrious CV would provide AP McCoy with the perfect opportunity to call it a day there and then tomorrow and our traders make that a 6/1 chance. If he does miss out in the Celebration Chase then we are expecting a huge gamble on the aptly-named Box Office.”
