Newcastle take on Liverpool on Sunday afternoon in a classic Premier League fixture, though both teams come into the game in an uncertain state.
The hosts have suffered a tumultuous summer, during which they have lost key midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, as well as boss Eddie Howe.
Liverpool, meanwhile, feel like something of an unknown quantity having replaced Arne Slot with Andoni Iraola, and they are third in the outright market in the Premier League betting.
Here are our football tips for the 4.30pm kick-off at St James’ Park, producing a 9/1 Bet Builder.
Newcastle v Liverpool betting tips
BTTS & over 2.5 goals 8/11
Malick Thiaw to take 1+ shot 3/4
Cody Gakpo to take 3+ shots 4/5
Dominic Szoboszlai to make 2+ tackles 4/7
BTTS & over 2.5 goals
This game screams goals, with two new managers known for their attacking style out to impress – and this bet having won in six of the last seven meetings between the teams.
Matthias Jaissle was Red Bull Salzburg boss for a couple of seasons, a club where a high press and offensive intent is engrained.
Inheriting a squad where so much has changed, it would be a shock if the Magpies are particularly defensively solid – but take on a Liverpool side in similar shape.
Virgil van Dijk appears to be a fading force at the back and starts a new partnership with either Ronald Araujo or Jeremy Jacquet.
At the other end, Andoni Iraola will also insist that his team play quick, vertical football, with Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak combining nicely in pre-season.
Malick Thiaw to take 1+ shot
Thiaw is a real set-piece threat and is bound to be the hosts’ main target from those situations.
The German centre-back posted 0.8 shots per game last season, a good effort, and also scored four goals.
Just one shot here adds nicely to our 9/1 Bet Builder.
Cody Gakpo to have 3+ shots
Gakpo has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer but still seems a likely starter down the left.
The Dutch forward has not kicked on at Anfield as may have been hoped, but is still a real goal threat from the left.
His trademark move is to get shots off from the left-sided angle of the box and he had 2.6 efforts per game in the league last season, the seventh-highest tally in the division.
In an open game, three shots is not beyond him.
Dominik Szoboszlai to take 2+ tackles
Szoboszlai looks set to play a deeper role for Liverpool this season, which should bring his tackles tally up.
Even last term, when he flitted between right-back and a move advanced midfield position, he registered 1.6 challenges per match.
Again, the transitional, open nature of this match should suit tackles – and backing the Hungarian star is a nice way of boosting the odds.
Newcastle v Liverpool odds
This should be a pretty attacking affair, with two offensively-minded coaches in charge, and that forms the basis of the 9/1 football betting Bet Builder.
These two have produced some classics over the years and another one should see this bet go close.
