New York City F.C. vs. Montreal Impact: Montreal to keep form rolling in New York City

Impact to further dent NYCFC hopes in key clash

Montreal Impact may still be at the wrong end of both the Eastern Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings but they are starting to make a real impression and should be too strong for New York City on Saturday night.

The Impact come into the game in excellent spirits after back-to-back wins over the Vancouver Whitecaps and Columbus Crew last week. Both games ended 2-1 and Montreal have now won four of their last five.

The Canadian club’s incredible CONCACAF Champions League run to the final meant they missed plenty of domestic action early on this season and they are now playing catch up.

Despite sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, they have as many as six games in hand over league leaders D.C. United and they boast the third best points-per-game record in the East.

They are already three points better off than MLS Expansion Franchise New York City, having played four games less than their opponents on Saturday, and they are looking up the table rather than behind.

NYCFC have endured a really tough start to life in Major League Soccer. They have lost half their games and sit bottom of the Supporters’ Shield standings after 14 weeks.

Jason Kreis did see his side end an eleven-game winless streak on Saturday though in their 2-1 win at the Philadelphia Union. That was their first ever away win in MLS and they now need to try and make Yankee Stadium a tougher place to visit than it has been so far.

New York City have only won once in front of their own fans and that came in their opening home fixture back in March. They have lost three and drawn three since then.

Their last two at home have ended in draws. NYCFC came from behind to pick up points in games against Chicago Fire and then most recently Houston Dynamo.

But Montreal will arrive at Yankee Stadium looking for all three points. And they should get them too.

Winning back-to-back games in MLS is impressive for any side. Especially for a team such as Montreal, who ended 2014 as the worst team in MLS. But they have managed to achieve that feat twice in the last month and look a real force all of a sudden.

Frank Klopas watched his side win their first away game of the season last weekend and they have now scored ten goals in their last five outings.

New York City can score goals themselves but struggle to net more than one in a game. So an Impact win with both teams to score looks great value at 5/1.

For those finding it tough to pick a winner in this, goals will be the way to go. There have been over 2.5 in Montreal’s last eight games and that run should continue in the Big Apple on Saturday.

Montreal Impact to win & both team to score @ 5/1

Over 2.5 goals @ 1/1
