Here are Will Rook‘s football tips for West Brom v Birmingham on Friday night.

West Brom to win to nil

Birmingham’s 1-0 defeat away to Preston before the international break was their fourth straight game without scoring.

West Brom, who still have a slim chance of claiming an automatic promotion spot, have won back-to-back games, keeping clean sheets in both.

Under 2.5 goals

But the Baggies are unlikely to run away with it.

Birmingham have only conceded three or more goals in three of their last 21 league games, mostly recently in 4-3 victory away to QPR last month.

More goals in the second half

There has been more than one goal at half-time in just two of Birmingham and West Brom’s last 10 games combined.

With a lot riding on the game for both sides and coming in off the back of an international break, a nervy opening period is possible.

Jay Rodriguez to score

Rodriguez is West Brom’s top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions this season and plays the majority of games through the middle.

He scored the final goal in their 3-0 win over Swansea last time out at the Hawthorns and has taken 90 shots so far this season – the 13th-highest total in the Championship.

Maikel Kieftenbeld to be carded

Kieftenbeld has been issued with 10 yellows and one red card so far this season – more than any player on either side.

The Dutch midfielder has picked up two bookings in his last three games, including in the Second City derby earlier this month, and is a good bet to be among the cards in another game between neighbours.
