Championship winner
Table toppers Middlesbrough have enjoyed a strong run of results which has seen them leapfrog Swansea at the Championship summit. With recent statement wins including a 5-1 hammering of Bolton and a clean sheet victory vs fellow promotion candidates Wolves, Boro have seen their odds to win the title slashed to 2/1 – previously 6/1 just last month. With upcoming fixtures against Charlton, Wrexham, and Watford, the Teesiders will hope to extend their lead at the top.
Swansea have mounted an unexpected title charge this season, putting together a strong run of early-season form that has seen them climb to the top end of the Championship. However, after facing recent losses to QPR and West Ham, they’ve seen their title odds drift 28/1 from the 16/1 they were priced at one month ago. However, with games against Blackburn, Portsmouth, and Birmingham coming up, they’ll want to bounce back to winning ways and regain their form.
Key fixtures that could influence Championship winner odds
With Championship winner betting liable to further change in the coming weeks, it’s key to look ahead to the fixtures that may have significant influence over the direction of the swinging odds:
Middlesbrough vs Swansea, 24th November
West Ham vs Middlesbrough, 8th December
Wolves vs Swansea, 26th December
Promotion and/or top 8 finish
One of the biggest movements we’ve seen among the promotion and top 8 markets is Southampton, who are one of the strongest contenders to challenge for the playoffs and automatic promotion this season. After getting some big wins like their 3-2 victory over West Ham, they’ve boosted their promotion hopes 3/2 , which previously sat at 2/1 in September. Their top 8 chances have also seen improvement 7/50 , showing increased confidence compared to the previous listing of 2/7 last month.
Newly promoted Birmingham have seen both their promotion and top 8 odds shorten in recent weeks, with their chances of back-to-back promotion seeing developments in the betting markets. Considering they recently got promoted from League One, their draws to Southampton, Wolves, and Middlesbrough show they can compete with the top end of the division. Naturally, these results have made their promotion odds shorten 4/1 , improving from last month’s 6/1 listing. The same can be said for their top 8 chances 11/25 , which have shortened from 10/11 in September, reflecting a growing confidence that Birmingham will secure a finish in the playoff positions.
The last few seasons have seen Blackburn fluctuate up and down the Championship, but now they are emerging as outside contenders for promotion or a top 8 finish. Despite being outsiders, their promotion chances have been boosted following wins against the likes of Wrexham and Bristol 40/1 , after being 66/1 around one month ago. Looking at the top 8 market, however, their odds appear even to have shortened further 9/1 , compared to the 14/1 they were priced at last month.
Portsmouth’s chances of promotion appear to have drifted as of late, with the likelihood of achieving automatic promotion reducing in the last few weeks. After losses to Derby County and 10-man Southampton, their odds for promotion 66/1 have become slightly longer than the 50/1 they were listed at a month ago. Similarly, their top 8 odds have taken a hit 15/2 , being a little less favourable than in September when they were listed at 10/1.
Promotion and top 8 chances for Bristol City have reduced somewhat over the last few weeks. After losing to both Blackburn and Sheffield United, their odds of promotion have lengthened 33/1 from their listing of 16/1 last month. Likewise, their top 8 odds have drifted slightly 9/2 compared to last month’s pricing of 4/1.
Charlton are a club that remain difficult to assess at this point in the season, with a fight for promotion and a relegation scrap both on the cards. As things stand, they have seen their promotion odds lengthen significantly 250/1 after having 80/1 odds last month. In a similar fashion, their odds of finishing in the top 8 have also taken a hit 33/1 , having previously stood at 14/1 a month ago.
Key fixtures that could influence promotion and top 8 odds
As Championship promotion and top 8 betting are open to further changes in the upcoming weeks, it’s important to look toward the fixtures that may have some influence over how the odds may change:
Swansea vs Blackburn Rovers, 31st October
Portsmouth vs Swansea, 3rd November
Bristol City vs Wolves, 4th November
Blackburn Rovers vs West Ham, 7th November
Birmingham vs Swansea, 7th November
Bristol City vs Middlesbrough, 21st November
Relegation
Cardiff City were promoted from League One during the 2025/26 season and now appear to face the threat of relegation once again after sitting close to the bottom of the table. However, after some positive results recently like their 5-1 demolition of Watford, their relegation odds have lengthened 6/1 , meaning they look less likely to be relegated than they did after their 7/2 odds in September.
After facing three losses on the bounce in October, Preston’s odds of relegation have become more likely than in previous weeks. At home they faced a 1-0 defeat to Millwall, whilst two away trips to Birmingham and Wrexham saw them concede eight goals as they lost 4-0 and 4-1. Since September when their odds were 4/6, they’ve shortened significantly 2/7 , increasing the expectation of a tough relegation battle.
Charlton are another side that have suffered more lately, with their relegation chances becoming more likely as well. After losses to both Norwich and Watford in October, their relegation odds 2/7 are certainly shorter than they were last month, when they sat at 5/2.
Key fixtures that could influence relegation odds
Because Championship relegation betting odds can undergo further changes as the season goes on, it’s a good idea to be aware of fixtures that could influence how the odds may change:
Cardiff vs Burnley, 7th November
Cardiff vs Preston, 24th November
Burnley vs Preston 6th December
Charlton vs Watford, 16th January
Charlton vs Burnley, 16th February
