Dan Fitch’s selections for this week’s Champions League second-legs include another goal for Harry Kane and a win to send Aston Villa through to the quarter-finals.
We will learn the identity of the Champions League quarter-finalists this week, as the Round of 16 ties conclude.
These could include the Premier League’s Aston Villa and Liverpool, while either Bayer Leverkusen or Bayern Munich will represent the Bundesliga and Atletico and Real Madrid will face off again in an all-LaLiga showdown.
We’ve picked out four football betting tips to consider ahead of all the action.
Champions League tips
Bayer Leverkusen v Bayern Munich: Harry Kane to score anytime /
Liverpool v PSG: PSG over 0.5 first-half goals /
Aston Villa v Club Brugge: Aston Villa to win and both teams to score /
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals /
Bayer Leverkusen v Bayern Munich
A Harry Kane brace set Bayern Munich up for a dominant 3-0 win in their first-leg against their Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
Xabi Alonso’s team have enjoyed success against Bayern this season by fielding a defensive formation, but this strategy made it difficult for them to get a foothold in the opening tie after the England captain scored an early goal.
With Leverkusen needing to show some early ambition if they are to stand a chance of getting back into this tie, then Bayern could take advantage on the counter-attack and Kane looks value to add to his Champions League haul of nine goals.
Liverpool v PSG
PSG will find it hard to believe that they lost 1-0 at home to Liverpool in the first-leg after coming close to scoring on numerous occasions.
The Reds’ goalkeeper Alisson was their standout performer and he could be in for another busy evening on Tuesday, with the French champions having reason to be confident after their display last week.
PSG took 27 shots on goal in Paris, with ten landing on target and if they can continue this match in the same vein, then they should get a goal on the board before the break.
Aston Villa v Club Brugge
Aston Villa took a major step towards a place in the quarter-finals with their 3-1 victory away at Club Brugge.
It was a tight game locked at 1-1 until an own goal by Brandon Mechele and a Marco Asensio penalty turned things in Villa’s favour in the closing minutes of the first-leg.
Yet Brugge have reason to be optimistic having won 3-1 at Atalanta in the play-offs and while the hosts have to be expected to claim a victory, it could be another competitive game.
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid is perfectly set up after an entertaining first-leg.
Real have the advantage after a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu, but the visitors were able to get on the scoresheet with Julian Alavrez’s fine strike and now have home advantage.
These teams have twice played out 1-1 draws in La Liga this season and with more at stake here, we could see another entertaining match in which both teams score, with at least three goals again.
