The grass court tennis season is already upon us with the countdown to Wimbledon 2025 underway and we have picked out some of the stars to watch at SW19 this year.

The grass court tennis season has already started and Wimbledon 2025 is just around the corner and we have picked out some of the stars to look out at SW19 this year.

On the men’s side, another epic clash between the top two in the rankings and the Wimbledon odds – Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz – is hotly anticipated.

But Novak Djokovic will want to have a say on what could be his last appearance on the London lawns, as will British hope Jack Draper, while burgeoning young talents such Jakob Mensik and Joao Fonseca bid to make a Grand Slam breakthrough.

Since the Williams sisters’ era of dominance ended, the ladies’ singles has been wide open and, as ever, several new names will be vying for the limelight.

Can any of the next crop match the magic of Lois Boisson’s sensational run to the semi-finals in Paris?

Men’s Singles

Jannik Sinner – 13/8 to win Men’s Singles

Jannik Sinner remained on top of the world despite losing from two sets up against Alcaraz in the French Open final.

It was the first time the dynamic duo of men’s tennis squared off in a Grand Slam final and it surely won’t be the last – especially now that they are so far ahead of the rest that they will be kept apart in all the upcoming draws.

Past history at Wimbledon indicates that you don’t need to look too far down the betting in the men’s singles, with eight out of the last 10 winners ranked in the world’s top three and all of them previous Grand Slam champions.

Sinner fits the bill but, worryingly for him, so does Alcaraz and he has lost his last five matches against the Spaniard.

But Sinner did win their only previous clash on grass at Wimbledon in 2022 and will be keen to end a run of Italian near misses on Centre court after Matteo Berrettini and Jasmine Paolini fell at the final hurdle.

Jack Draper – 8/1 to win Men’s Singles

Jack Draper has the game to be a huge threat to the big two on all surfaces and he should be well prepared for Wimbledon this year.

The Sutton-born left-hander has put his former fitness issues firmly behind him and earned a reputation as someone who never knows they are beaten.

This year Draper is 7-3 in deciding sets and 3-0 in five-setters, while another thing in his favour this year is his rankings rise to number four in the world.

That means he will only meet Sinner or Alcaraz in the semi-finals, while the fact that Djokovic is just behind him at No.5 ensures the Serb will be on the other side of the draw.

Jakub Mensik – 33/1 to win Men’s Singles

Jakub Mensik made headlines by beating Draper and Djokovic en route to a sensational maiden Masters title in Miami earlier this year.

The big-serving Czech may lack some of the finesse at the net to make the most of his talent, but he will fear no one and could be a dangerous opponent if he gets some momentum behind his bid and makes it to the second week.

Women’s Singles

Lois Boisson

French player Lois Boisson became the darling of Paris’ clay courts this month with her run to the last four in the women’s singles in her home country.

Unfortunately, she will still have to qualify for the Wimbledon ladies singles after her rise to 65th in the world came just after the cut-off point for automatic entry.

Boisson is a battler with solid ground strokes, a decent serve and unshakeable belief in herself again after returning from a horrible injury lay-off.

She could cause some upsets in the early rounds if she makes it through to the main draw.

Victoria Mboko

Victoria Mboko has compiled a 42-6 record in 2025 so far, including a third-round run as a qualifier at Roland Garros.

The Canadian teenager reached the semi-finals of junior Wimbledon three years ago and looks to have the game to cause some ripples in the first week, if she makes it through qualifying.

Eva Lys

Mboko ended Eva Lys’ French Open hopes at the second-round stage, but the Kyiv-born German player is more capable on faster surfaces.

She reached the fourth round of the Australian Open this year before falling well short against Iga Swiatek, but that experience should have done her good.

The 23-year-old showed a penchant for grass court tennis when she came through qualifying at Roehampton last year by overcoming America’s Amanda Anisimova, who is now ranked inside the world’s top-16.
