The Swiss is rolling back the years with his recent performances and looks to have a great chance heading into Paris…
Catch him if you can. Roger Federer has been up to his old tricks again recently and is seemingly the front runner heading into this ATP 1000 event. He’s been playing some sensational tennis of late and if he can keep up his fine form in Paris, tennis fans could be in for a real spectacle.
The BNP Paribas Open has come at a great time for Federer, who not only has the form book on his side, but has the added boost of a hero status among the French crowd.
Life is good at the moment for the most successful tennis player in history and a second BNP Paribas trophy looks to be on the cards. The last time he won the event was back in 2011 and has a very good record of going far in this tournament. Having reached the semi-finals again last year it looks as though he’s in the mood to go that step further this time around.
Since that disappointing US Open semi-final loss to Marin Cilic way back at the start of September, Federer hasn’t lost a match. This superb run has seen him win the Shanghai Open this month, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets on his passage to the final.
In fact, on the hard courts he has been in excellent form all season, with only six games conceded in 51 matches. During this time he’s claimed three titles on this surface, with victories in Shanghai, Cincinnati and Dubai.
With plenty at stake in this tournament you can expect an electrifying week of tennis. The king of tennis will undoubtedly be at his blockbuster best in Paris, and he continues to build steam ahead of next month’s ATP Tour Finals.
