Methodology
We looked at more than a century’s worth of championships across North America’s biggest sports leagues – from football and baseball to basketball, hockey and soccer.
But more than that – we also included data from less popular sports Rugby Union (MLR), Frisbee (Ultimate Frisbee Open), Lacrosse (NCAA), Curling (Men’s Curling Championship) and Table Tennis (USA National Table Tennis Championships).
This data includes Canadian equivalents for football (CFL), rugby (CRC) and frisbee (CUC) as there are no Canadian participants in the U.S. versions of these competitions.
We counted every trophy winner from every city up to and including the 2025 Super Bowl.
Titles were credited to the city where they were won, even if the team later moved.
The result is a list of the most successful sporting cities in North American history.
