Tuesday Galway horse racing tips

The second evening of action from the Galway Races on Tuesday is another mixed offering with both jumps and Flat action to take in.

The second day of action at Galway gets under way in Ballybrit at 17:05, with seven contetsts through until 20:20, including the feature race, the €72,000 COLM QUINN BMW Mile Handicap, at 18:40.

Our racing expert has picked a trio of runners to follow on day two of the 2025 Galway Races.

Selections

  • 18:40 Galway – Bear Profit @ 16/1

  • 19:15 Galway – Raykir @ SP

  • 20:20 Galway – Convincing @ SP

18:40 Galway – Bear Profit @ 16/1

The big race of the day is the prestigious COLM QUINN BMW Mile Handicap, a real staple of the Galway experience and a contest carrying a handsome top prize for the winner.

Evening Blossom for Joseph O’Brien and the hat-trick-seeking Slieve Binnian for David Marnane are solid contenders on the formbook but so, too, should be BEAR PROFIT for the Ger O’Leary yard.

The six-year-old scored at Leopardstown in June and has twice gone well since from career-high marks. He was second to Glorious Goodwood-bound Masoun at the Curragh (1m2f. good) in June and then ran off 2lb higher when third back at Leopardstown in a valuable contest earlier this month behind the aforementioned Slieve Binnian.

He was less than two-lengths behind that day and was making up plenty of ground late having raced in rear. The stiff finish here should suit and, accounting for Nicola Burns’ 7lb claim, he is a full 12lb better off with the winner now.

19:15 Galway – Raykir @ SP

Dermot Weld doesn’t have the stranglehold of old on the Galway Races but the Master of Rosewell House is still capable of finding winners at this meeting.

He saddles Aga Khan-owned gelding RAYKIR in the 7f Caulfield Industrial Irish EBF Maiden as he seeks to win the race for a third time in six years.

The Siyouni gelding was third last time out in a mile maiden at Limerick, clear of the rest in first-time cheekpieces despite being carried right by the eventual second late on.

The drop in trip should be ok over the stiff track here and he’s got claims if Chris Hayes gets a good position from a wide draw.

20:20 Galway – Convincing @ SP

Ciaran Murphy saddles CONVINCING in the Caulfield Industrial Handicap that rounds off the card at Galway on day two and the gelded son of Make Believe has a chance to improve in the hands of Ben Coen.

The four-year-old has only five runs under his belt and has shown his ability to operate on fast and slow ground alike at Killarney.

Dropping back in trip for his handicap bow at Down Royal (7f, good) in late May was perhaps far from optimal and, eased a couple of pounds by the handicapper now after his short break, this stiff test over the extended mile at Galway could well see an improved performance.
