Silvestre De Sousa: Sea Of Flames the pick of my Saturday rides

In his exclusive column, the champion Flat jockey and Betway ambassador discusses his prospects at both Lingfield and Wolverhampton

Saturday is going to be a really busy day for me as I’m at Lingfield for five rides and then shoot off to Wolverhampton in the evening for another three…

Lingfield

I kick off at Lingfield with Potternello (2.00pm) for Mick Channon in the opener.

It looks a really competitive race on paper but my filly would have a squeak.

That said, Chris Dywer’s Baileys Mirage with Ryan Moore booked looks very hard to beat.

Next up I’m riding Arnold Lane, again for the in-form Channon team.

It’s another wide-open contest and on his best form he would have a chance.

The problem is my fellow is seven-years-old and after 42 races the handicapper knows him pretty well.

Dutch Uncle (3.10pm) ran well on his seasonal reappearance at Kempton a fortnight a way and must have a decent chance from the foot of the weights.

Ed [Dunlop] won this race with Trip To Paris last year, so hopefully we can follow in his hoofprints!

It looks a tough task though with the likes of Top Tug, making his debut for Alan King, and the consistent Silver Quay in the mix.

Talking of tough tasks and William Knight’s Dnaneer (3.45pm), who I ride in the maiden, may find it hard to beat likely favourite Muatadel.

Mark Johnston has his team in great form and this one won’t remain a maiden for long.

Godolphin also introduce Maximian who could easily be a smart recruit too.

My final ride at Lingfield is arguably the pick of all of my Saturday rides.

Sea Of Flames (4.15pm) is already a three-time course winner and must have a massive chance having won the three-year-old mile championship here last time.

He won’t have it all his own way though as John Gosden’s Predilection is well-regarded and William Haggas’ ultra-consistent Tutu Nguru comes here in great form too.

Wolverhampton

The first of my three Wolverhampton rides is Ready (7.50pm) in the one-mile handicap.

He has run pretty well on three previous starts here and isn’t without a chance.

Top-weight Revolutionist has won four of his last five starts and still seems to be progressing, while you can’t rule out old boy Mont Ras who is just so consistent.

If I’m honest, I don’t know too much about Rock ‘n Red (8.50pm) who I ride for Ed in the penultimate race.

She is yet to win in five previous starts but shaped with a lot more promise last time, so I’m hopeful in what doesn’t look a great contest.

My final ride of a busy day comes aboard Cartographic (9.20pm) for David Evans in the finale.

I’ve never ridden him before, but he has finished second on both his last two starts so at least comes here in good form.

Hopefully, it’s his turn to win tomorrow night.
