Top action on day two of the 2016 Festival is guaranteed and, crucially, there is plenty for punters to enjoy
The RSA Chase (2.10) takes place on Wednesday and there are two stand out contenders at the head of the market.
Our selection, though, goes to No More Heroes at 9/4.
He has made a fantastic start to his chasing career with three wins from three performances. He looks full of potential and can land top honours at this season’s Festival.
No More Heroes has jumped very well in his chase starts to date and that should see him handle Cheltenham’s demands well. He also schooled well over fences at Leopardstown after racing last month.
He stays very well and was unlucky not to win the Albert Bartlett last season, finishing third having been hampered in the home straight.
The other horse towards the front of the market is More of That at 15/8.
He is a very good horse and is a previous World Hurdle winner, which is one of several wins around Cheltenham. Most recently he won over the larger obstacles.
There would be one worry, though, which is that that was back in December and he has missed engagements since then. That is why No More Heroes is the selection.
Baoulet Delaroque looks well handicapped in Cheltenham 2.50
Paul Nicholls could hold the key in this 2.50 handicap hurdle with two excellent chances, which would be his second win in as many years.
The winner could be Baoulet Delaroque at 14/1 and he could be excellent value given his form this season.
He has won his last three starts and looks the perfect type for a race of this nature. He should relish the step up in trip.
He has won on varying grounds this season and the drying ground should pose no worries on Wednesday. He has amassed three wins from four runs in England and could add to that tally on Wednesday.
Another horse with a good chance is Politologue at odds of 9/1. He is also trained by Paul Nicholls and represents last season’s winning connections.
He was a very easy winner last time out but he was short odds that day and Wednesday’s race is much harder.
Previous to that he finished second in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury, which represents good form. He also looked like he was going to go close in a novice event at Cheltenham in December before unseating on the run to the last.
These two certainly seem like they could be ahead of the handicapper, but narrow preference is for Baoulet Delaroque.
Josie’s Orders the one they all need to beat in the Cross Country
The Cross Country Chase (4.10) is a unique test and for that reason it could be worth siding with Josie’s Orders, who is priced at 5/2.
He is two from two over course and distance which is valuable asset in this contest. He is also trained by the most successful trainer in the history of this contest, Enda Bolger.
He is only an eight-year-old and is one of the few horses in the race who could still be improving.
The next horse to mention is Balthazar King at 11/2. He is a previous two-time winner of this contest and if returning at the top of his game must be taken very seriously.
He is top class at his best and has previously finished second in the 2014 Grand National. The main concern, however, would be he is returning from injury and hasn’t run this season.
