Continental Breakfast: 5 European picks for Sunday’s matches

Torino to beat Benevento (14:00) –

After achieving their first two league victories of the season, Benevento reverted to type with a 3-0 loss at Bologna last weekend.

That was the 18th defeat in 21 matches for Serie A’s bottom club, who are 11 points from safety.

Torino are unbeaten in their last five in all competitions and have only been beaten by league leaders Napoli in their last seven home games.

Leverkusen to beat Mainz (14:30) –

Leverkusen bounced back from their defeat against Bayern Munich by hammering Hoffenheim 4-1 away from home last weekend.

That was the fourth victory in six for the Bundesliga’s second-placed side and made it just one loss in 16 in all competitions.

Mainz are yet to win on the road this season, having picked up just four points from their nine games.

Lyon to beat Bordeaux (16:00) –

Lyon beat Monaco 3-2 in the French Cup in midweek to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions.

Bruno Genesio’s side have the best away record in Ligue 1, having taken 26 points from 11 matches.

Bordeaux won at Nantes last weekend, but have lost their last three at home without scoring.

Lazio to beat AC Milan (17:00) –

Lazio hammered Udinese 3-0 on Wednesday and have now won six matches in an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

They also have Serie A’s second-best away record, having won eight and lost just one of their 11 league games on the road this season.

Milan are in decent form themselves, but were beaten 4-1 by Lazio in September and are yet to win a single point from their five games against Serie A’s top-five sides.

Sevilla to beat Getafe (17:30) –

Sevilla beat second-place Atletico 3-1 in the Copa del Rey in midweek to secure their passage to semi-final.

That was their third victory on the bounce in all competitions and fourth home win in six.

Getafe have lost four away games in succession, failing to score in each of them, and are without a win in nine on the road.
