Champions League tips: Best bets for Arsenal v PSG

Expect a tight game at the Emirates Stadium when PSG visit Arsenal in the first leg of this Champions League semi-final.

After thrashing Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the Champions League quarter-finals, Arsenal take on PSG in the semi-final first leg on Tuesday 29 April.

The clash kicks off at the Emirates Stadium at 8pm and French champions PSG are targeting another Premier League scalp, having eliminated Liverpool in the round of 16 and Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.

Here are our football betting tips for this huge Champions League clash in N5.

Arsenal v PSG tips

Draw /

Achraf Hakimi to score or assist a goal /

Jurrien Timber to make 3+ tackles /

French champions fighting fit for trip to London

Arsenal’s last Champions League game at the Emirates Stadium was the glorious 3-0 quarter-final first-leg win over holders Real Madrid but the Gunners may not have things all their own way against PSG.

Declan Rice scored two sensational free-kicks against Real, while also dominating the midfield battle, but Thomas Partey’s suspension weakens Arsenal in that department.

PSG beat English champions Liverpool on penalties in the round of 16 before a 5-4 aggregate victory over Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.

The French champions were probably guilty of complacency after going 5-1 up in the tie inside the first 30 minutes of the second leg at Villa Park.

They will surely be more focused against Arsenal, especially given the manner in which the Gunners dismantled Real, and a first-leg draw looks a decent bet.

PSG should be fresher than their depleted hosts, having sealed the Ligue 1 title with six matches to spare, and manager Luis Enrique has named a fully fit squad for the trip to London.

PSG right-back poses serious attacking threat

After a slow start to their Champions League campaign, PSG have scored 27 goals in their last nine European matches and they have attacking threats all over the pitch.

Right-back Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring in the second leg against Villa, having had a goal ruled out for offside in the 3-1 home win over Unai Emery’s men.

Hakimi also had an effort chalked off by VAR in January’s 4-2 victory over Manchester City and he is worth backing to score or assist a goal against Arsenal.

Inexperienced left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly could be kept busy by the Morocco captain, who averages 2.1 shots per game in this season’s Champions League and has contributed five assists in 14 European appearances.

Hakimi has also racked up four goals and six assists in 23 Ligue 1 starts and Arsenal should be wary of his attacking output in the first leg.

Gunners defender should showcase his tough tackling

On the opposite flank, Arsenal right-back Jurrien Timber could be up against PSG’s attack-minded full-back Nuno Mendes as well as brilliant winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Georgian star Kvaratskhelia is one of the best dribblers in the game and Timber, who made six tackles over the two legs against Real Madrid, should be backed to put in at least three challenges.

Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash made three tackles before half-time in the quarter-final first leg against PSG and five in the return fixture, when he faced the pacy Bradley Barcola.

The no-nonsense Timber never shirks a challenge, picking up nine yellow cards in 35 Premier League and Champions League starts this season, and he can showcase his tackling ability on Tuesday.
