Champions League tips: A 12/1 Bet Builder for Inter v Barcelona

Tom Hill's selections for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg include the Nerazzuri to progress but a Barca star finding the net.

It was impossible to catch your breath when watching Barcelona and Inter Milan’s Champions League semi-final first leg last week as the pair put on a thriller in Catalonia.

It took just one minute for Marcus Thuram to open the scoring and that set the tone as five goals soon followed as the pair drew 3-3, leaving it all to play for in Milan on Tuesday.

Each side won at the weekend to keep their respective title charges on track and the in-form duo may put on another must-watch clash in the second leg, so we have picked out a three-leg bet builder for Tuesday’s heavyweight clash, which pays out at 12/1 in the current football betting odds..

Inter v Barcelona tips

Hosts heading for Munich

While they will be frustrated with throwing away a two-goal lead in Barcelona, Inter Milan will still be the happier of the two sides following last week’s chaotic first leg.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are exceptional on their own patch, losing just three of their 27 home matches this term. Two of those defeats came against their rivals AC Milan, too, which is worth noting as they share a home ground with Inter

Home advantage is one thing which turns the tie in Inter’s favour, and experience is another. The hosts still have plenty of players from their 2023 run to the final and that nous could show against Barca, who have an extremely young squad beyond Robert Lewandowski and their goalkeepers.

With that in mind, it could be worth siding with Inter to make a second Champions League final in three years, especially as they were able to rest almost the entirety of their first-choice XI at the weekend while Barca had to play the likes of Raphinha, Yamal and Pedri.

Repeat of first-leg thriller could be in store

Last week’s first leg produced six goals and while a repeat of that seems unlikely, with Inter fancied to defend a bit deeper at the Giuseppe Meazza and try to control the tempo, there should still be a fair bit of scoring action in Milan.

Barcelona’s attack is frightening, with Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres all looking lively and making an impact last week, and goals seem to follow Hansi Flick’s side wherever they go.

Just four of Barca’s last 14 games have featured less than three goals and over 2.5 appeals again, with Inter hardly goal-shy themselves.

Inzaghi’s men have netted at least twice in 10 of their last 15 matches and the goals should flow at San Siro on Tuesday.

Spanish star Yamal to shine

Inter will be happy to bring this tie back to Milan all-square, but Inzaghi will no doubt have spent the week drawing up ideas to stop the rising star who stole the show in the first leg, Yamal.

The Spanish superstar, who is now joint-favourite for Raphinha for the Ballon d’Or, was irresistible last week, tying Inter’s defenders in knots and scoring a stunning goal.

Yamal has now scored four goals in his last six Champions League matches and his wand of a left foot could be seen to great effect once again at San Siro.
