In first place is Dry Falls, a 75-foot waterfall flowing over a cliff which allows visitors to walk within metres of the cascading water. With just over 23,000 Instagram posts and almost 2,000 posts on TikTok, it’s definitely a lesser known spot with tourists online despite having a near perfect 4.9 review rating.

Glacier Bay National Park comes in second with just under 2,000 TikTok posts. Located in Alaska, its more remote location might be the reason for it being less popular on social media, however its unparalleled glacier views and abundant wildlife make it perfect for adventurous travelers looking to venture further.

Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan comes in third with almost 4,000 TikTok posts and 44,000 Instagram posts. Located in Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the distinctive waterfall is known for its brown color, earning it the nickname “root beer falls”.

With just 12,200 Instagram posts and 525 TikTok posts, Helmcken Falls comes in first place as Canada’s top hidden natural wonder. Situated within Wells Gray Provincial Park in British Columbia, Helmcken Falls is the fourth largest waterfall in Canada, offering truly breathtaking views.

Cape Breton Highlands and Pacific Rim National Park come in joint second place. Each with a fairly modest social media presence. Despite not dominating Instagram or TikTok, both parks offer stunning natural beauty and unique experiences that make them true hidden gems.

Meanwhile, Garibaldi Lake in British Columbia takes third place. With its crystal-clear blue waters framed by rolling mountain peaks, no filter is needed to capture its natural beauty on social media despite its quieter presence online.

Honorable mention to Niagara Falls

We couldn’t complete our research without mentioning Niagara Falls, the iconic collection of waterfalls that span across the US and Canada. With four million hashtags on Instagram, almost 400,000 posts on TikTok and 18 million annual Google searches, it truly is one of the world’s most popular natural wonders. It’s also maintained a 4.8 review rating from almost 130,000 reviews.

We’ve given it an honorable mention rather than include it in our rankings due to it widely spanning both countries, as well as Niagara Falls itself being a city and highly developed area. That being said, its breathtaking scenery and iconic status continue to make it a must-see for millions of visitors each year.

Have you visited, or plan to visit, any of the natural wonders on this list?
