As we approach National Cheese Lovers Day on January 20th, it’s time to celebrate our favorite cheesy creations with a look at what people in North America are searching for online when it comes to cheese.
Online casino Betway data analyzed from Google Trends shows the average yearly search volume for each type of cheese in all 50 states and key Canadian cities. The results are fascinating, and they reveal some interesting insights into our national cheese consumption habits.
Top Cheese Searches
Surprisingly, cheddar cheese is the most searched for in the United States, with an average yearly search volume of 609,500 across the country. This is followed by the all-time- favorite cream cheese (98,540), mozzarella cheese (75,170), and blue cheese (73,450).
Interestingly, American cheese is not the most popular cheese overall, and just missed the top 5 with an average yearly search volume of 55,880.
State-by-State Cheese Preferences
Based on the analysis, there are some interesting differences in cheese preferences from state to state. For example, Texans are the biggest fans of cheddar cheese, with an average yearly search volume of 201,000. Meanwhile, Californians are the most likely to search for mozzarella cheese (9,900), and New Yorkers are the most likely to search for Ricotta cheese (6,600).
