Methodology
The number of bakery stores, dessert shops, and ice cream parlors in each city was sourced from TripAdvisor. These figures were weighted and combined to form part of the overall index.
In addition, a weighted total of online mentions for key terms, ‘candy’, ‘chocolate’, and ‘donuts’, was calculated. This figure was then adjusted relative to each city’s population (per 100,000 residents).
A final score was produced by normalizing all metrics and applying a standardized scale, resulting in scores ranging from 40 to 99.
