Favourites to win the Champions League

Below is a list of the favourites for the Champions League this season, with their odds:

Team

Odds to win the Champions League

Barcelona

PSG

Arsenal

6/1

Bayern Munich

6/1

Real Madrid

7/2

Barcelona

Barcelona looks to be one of the strongest forces in the Champions League this season, with their team seeming well-positioned for success. Under the management of Hansi Flick, Barcelona have managed to win back-to-back La Liga titles, proving he can win big trophies with the club. As Flick has already won the Champions League with Bayern Munich, his track record in the competition favours his chances.

With Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Rodri in their ranks, they have some of the best talents in world football at their disposal. Having only lost to PSG so far, they sit second in the League Phase table, behind only the Parisians, and look to be in a strong position to go on and win the Champions League this year.

PSG

Two-time winners PSG will be looking for their third-consecutive Champions League title and hope to repeat the feat that few clubs have done. Manager Luis Enrique is one of the most experienced coaches in the world and has been instrumental in PSG’s recent Champions League success after years of under-achieving.

Paris Saint-Germain’s squad is also deep, having stars such as former Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Vitinha, and Achraf Hakimi, making them one of the best-equipped teams competing this campaign.

After a perfect start to their European season and looking lethal in front of goal, they sit atop the League Phase table and are absolutely looking like one of the Champions League favourites.

Arsenal

They may have no Champions League titles to their name, but Arsenal have been one of the strongest competitors in the competition in recent years. Having reached the Champions League final in 2026, they will look to go one step further this year and win the competition.

Mikel Arteta ended the club’s wait for a Premier League title last season, and will be looking to do the same in Europe during the 2026/27 season.

With a rock-solid backline in front of David Raya that includes Gabriel, Ezri Konsa, and Ricciardo Calafiori, the Gunners’ defence is one of their standout qualities. Then with the likes of Declan Rice and Bruno Guimares ahead of them, they have elite players to marshal the midfield.

After an unbeaten start to their Champions League campaign so far, Arteta’s team appear to be one of the toughest outfits once again.

Bayern Munich

Being one of the most decorated clubs in Champions League history, Bayern Munich are often a team in contention to win and the same can be said this year. With new Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane leading the line, they have one of the best goalscorers on the planet, accompanied by two of the world’s best wingers in Luis Diaz and Michael Olise.

Vincent Kompany has the team playing top football in the Bundesliga and helped to produce arguably the game of the season in last year’s Champions League against PSG. Reaching the semi-finals and losing to the eventual winners last campaign will only provide further motivation to progress and claim the competition for themselves once again.

This year, Bayern Munich have started fairly positively in the Champions League, navigating a tough draw. With a few of their remaining League Phase games being widely considered as ‘winnable’, they are rightly considered among the Champions League favourites.

Real Madrid

As the most successful club in Champions League history, Real Madrid should always be among the favourites, with them having won the competition 15 times.

As the legendary Jose Mourinho takes charge this season, they have a figurehead in charge who has the know-how and experience to lead the team to success. The Portuguese manager has led both Porto and Inter Milan to the Champions League title and will be looking to do the same again at Madrid.

With a lethal attacking lineup including Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Yan Diomande, they’ve got more than enough firepower up front, which, combined with Jude Bellingham in midfield, could be just enough to propel them to further Champions League glory.

With a 100% record in the League Phase at the time of writing, Madrid are looking like a formidable opponent and could be tough to beat – especially in the latter stages where they have so much experience.

Are there any other contenders to win the Champions League?

Though those are the main contenders, there are other teams that should also be considered potential Champions League favourites as they could still win the competition.

Man City 11/1 should be considered among the top competitors, with the team claiming their first Champions League title in 2023. Despite having just one to their name, City are a regular in the latter stages of the competition in recent years, meaning they are an experienced side that remain competitive throughout the campaign.

Reaching the final as recently as the 2021/22 season, Liverpool 20/1 are certainly among the teams that could lift the trophy, even as outsiders. As the most successful English team in the competition, the Reds are in with a shout, with their legendary victory in 2005 against AC Milan proving that they don’t have to be the best team in the competition to win.

Serie A giants Inter Milan 40/1 are another team to have reached Champions League finals in recent years, having got to the last stage in 2023. Inter have two titles to their name and have managed to be the best Italian team in the competition over recent seasons.

Premier League odds to win the Champions League

Looking specifically at Premier League teams, the following table will show their odds of winning the Champions League:

Team

Odds to win the Champions League

Arsenal

6/1

Manchester City

7/1

Liverpool

20/1

Aston Villa

50/1

Manchester United

50/1

English teams have been some of the strongest in Europe over the last few years, which is why they have managed to claim five Champions League spots in recent seasons. Each of the Premier League sides has its own respective quality, with each posing a different challenge to sides across Europe.

With sides like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City reaching the final in the last five seasons, English teams have proven they can go through the gruelling fixture schedule and manage deep runs into the competition.

Looking at this season’s Champions League, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if a few of the English sides appear in the latter stages or maybe even go on to win the whole thing – especially as some are considered Champions League favourites!
