What are Burnley’s odds to be relegated from the Championship? Learn the Clarets’ chances of relegation for the 2026/27 season and their rivals at the bottom!
Though Burnley may have had two recent stints in the Premier League in 2023/24 and 2025/26, they now sit with a real chance of relegation from the Championship by the end of the season.
After losing their Premier League status in 2026, it was widely assumed they would be among the favourites for Championship promotion, yet now they sit on the brink of repeating Leicester City’s feat of back-to-back relegations to League One.
But what actually are the chances that Burnley get relegated?
By taking a look at the Championship betting odds, we’ve discovered their chances of relegation by the end of the 2026/27 season. Read the following blog to find out!
Burnley relegation odds
Although they would have been hoping to bounce straight back to the Premier League as they have done in recent years, Burnley 8/1 are quickly becoming one of the most realistic candidates for Championship relegation.
With an underwhelming beginning to the season and a run of poor results, the Clarets have struggled to find a win in the opening games of the season. It’s clear that if they want to stave off the threat of relegation, they’re going to need to start picking up some more wins and building confidence within the squad.
After keeping hold of experienced players like Kyle Walker and recruiting even more with Jamie Vardy joining on a free transfer, they’ll hope to soon turn their fortunes around.
Burnley relegation rivals
Despite sitting at the bottom end of the Championship, Burnley aren’t the only teams fighting for their lives to remain in the division. With the Championship being such a competitive league, there are several other teams that could go down instead, with plenty even considered to be more likely to face the drop.
Teams | Championship relegation odds |
Preston North End | |
Lincoln City | |
Bolton Wanderers | |
Derby County | |
Charlton | |
Blackburn Rovers | |
Sheffield United | |
Cardiff City | |
Watford | |
Portsmouth |
Burnley’s odds currently put them dangerously close to the front of the Championship relegation market. But with a number of teams having shorter relegation odds than Burnley, they aren’t alone in this fight and there’s every chance those teams remain at the bottom end of the table.
As the Championship has a fair few relegation candidates, Burnley will have a number of important games to mark in the diary that could alter both the market and their fate. Should they win these ‘six-pointers’, then that will more than help their case.
Some fixtures to look out for in particular are the ‘East Lancashire Derby’ against Blackburn Rovers and games against other regional rivals, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End.
Date | Fixtures | Score |
22/11/26 | Burnley vs Blackburn Rovers | – |
06/12/26 | Burnley vs Preston North End | – |

06/02/27 | Blackburn Rovers vs Burnley | – |

Will Burnley get relegated at the end of the season?
Before the 2026/27 season began, many would have thought of Burnley as a ‘yo-yo’ team in recent years and presumed that they would go straight back up to the Premier League. The way this campaign is panning out so far, though, they are right down there with the Championship relegation battlers.
The Clarets can hope that their experienced players will soon step up and that their manager Nicky Hayen can steer the club away from relegation, but the Championship is an unforgiving division. Should positive results start becoming more regular, it is still possible that Burnley can reignite their promotion hopes as there is still a long way to go in the season. But if results continue in the fashion that they are at the moment, then Burnley’s Championship relegation odds will quickly shorten as the season goes on and they could follow in Leicester’s footsteps just one season later.
