Our best bets for the third week of the 2023 NFL season include three bets against the spread.
49ers can dismantle fragile Giants
The 49ers’ offense has been frighteningly efficient in the first couple of weeks of the regular season, winning 30-7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, before a 30-23 win against the Los Angeles Rams last time out.
Quarterback Brock Purdy has been stepping up to the challenge in this early stage of the season and looks to be growing in confidence game by game.
Next up are the New York Giants and a defense that has been having a tough time of things up to now.
A 40-0 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East showdown at MetLife Stadium was a nightmare start to the season.
The Giants responded to beat the Arizona Cardinals but they still conceded 28 points in that game.
San Francisco should win this one comfortably and can fall on the right side of the point spread.
Saints set for first defeat
New Orleans Saints are 2-0 going into Week 3 but they have managed it by the skin of their teeth, as they prepare to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
A 16-15 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 was followed by a 20-17 win over the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.
In their post-Aaron Rodgers era, the Packers have started out with a 38-20 win over the Chicago Bears, followed by a 25-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last time out.
The Packers have won 10 of their 13 regular season meetings with the Saints at Lambeau Field and Green Bay look well priced to fall on the right side of the point spread here.
Eagles can go 3-0
In the early hours of Tuesday, the only head-to-head between two 2-0 sides in Week 3 gets underway as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles seem to be showing little sign of a hangover from their Super Bowl defeat last season, having overcome the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings without playing their best football.
Tampa Bay are also 2-0 after wins against the Vikings and Chicago Bears but face their toughest test in Week 3 against the Eagles.
With quarterback Jalen Hurts and Philly’s running game, the Bucs will have a job on their hands to stop this Eagles’ offense.
With -5 on the point spread, the Eagles look capable of coming back from Florida with the W.
Tips
San Francisco 49ers (-15.5) @ 6/4
Green Bay Packers (-2) @ 10/11
Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) @ 10/11
