With the 2025 NFL season getting underway this week, the competition's biggest names are preparing to take the field for the first time in the new campaign.
Looking to help their teams make strong starts, here are three NFL betting picks to win MVP in the 2025 season.
Best bets for NFL MVP
Jackson can lead Ravens to new heights
Just missing out on the MVP award last season to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson is good value to claim the accolade for the third time in his career.
Winner of the individual award in both 2019 and 2023, Baltimore Ravens ace Jackson knows the lengths required to beat stern competition for this award.
Jackson was outstanding last term, throwing for 4,189 yards and landing 41 touchdown passes through the 2024 regular season.
Also running in four touchdowns himself, Jackson showed once again what a danger he can be both through the air and on the ground.
If the 28-year-old can post similar numbers this season and get the Ravens back to the Super Bowl, Jackson will take some stopping to be denied MVP.
Lamar Jackson to win MVP @ 5/1
Bengals’ Burrow has the potential
Hopefully putting his injury woes behind him, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is another serious contender for this season’s MVP.
Having had his 2023 season curtailed by a serious wrist injury, Burrow was back last season and recorded 4,918 yards passing.
A tally of 43 touchdown passes was by far Burrow’s best return, with his previous best coming in 2021 when he managed 34.
Also completing more passes last term than any of his previous seasons, Burrow looks to be moving in the right direction and he’s another value pick for the MVP this time around.
Joe Burrow to win MVP @ 6/1
Barkley an outside shot to consider
While it’s understandably quarterbacks who tend to dominate the MVP discussion, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was in the conversation for the award last season.
Making the high-profile move from rivals the New York Giants to the Eagles, Barkley was a man on a mission to show what he could do with a strong offensive line ahead of him.
Managing a remarkable 2,005 yards rushing over the course of the 16 games in the regular season last term, Barkley was just short of breaking the record for most rushing yards in a regular season.
With 13 touchdowns across those 16 games, Barkley was a key figure in helping take the pressure off quarterback Jalen Hurts with the passing game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Barkley sat out some plays when games were wrapped up last season and even missed a game at the back end of the regular season to be fresh and ready for the playoffs.
If Barkley has a similar season and does manage to break Eric Dickerson’s rushing record, then the Philly running back could get his hands on the MVP award and is an eye-catching price to claim the prize.
