An improved performance from the underwhelming Eli Manning is required if Tom Coughlin's team are to avoid a 0-3 start
Two weeks in, two late losses and the New York Giants are down in the dumps again.
However, do not expect Tom Coughlin’s team to give up that easily when they face NFC East rivals the Washington Redskins at the MetLife Stadium on Thursday night.
The Giants are priced at 20/37, while the visiting Redskins are 31/20.
Giants fans will not be enjoying the NFL so much right now as, yet again, the league is showing how cruel it can be.
They headed to Dallas on opening night and were within minutes of winning, only for a dodgy play call to give the Cowboys plenty of time to drive the ball down the field for the winning touchdown.
It only got worse last weekend.
With the Giants 20-10 up in the fourth quarter, they allowed the Atlanta Falcons to score 14 unanswered points to snatch victory from the Meadowlands.
The questions about two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning and coach Coughlin have only got louder and will be deafening should they lose this one.
Washington, however, recovered for an average display against the Miami Dolphins to register a solid victory against the St Louis Rams.
Washington Redskins @ New York Giants betting
The Redskins dropped former star quarterback Robert Griffin III during the off-season and now the attention will be on Kirk Cousins.
A great running game, led by rookie Matt Jones, really helped Jay Gruden’s team last time out and they will lean on that again here.
The Giants will have to be concerned about their offence ahead of this one.
They have not yet clicked as many expected them to, scoring only one touchdown with their talented wide receiving duo.
That cannot continue if they want to make the playoffs.
They aren’t much better at defending against the pass, finishing last in that category.
Their rushing defence is third, however, which could be vital in this one.
The Redskins are much better on the ground than in the air but their defence has been impressive so far, allowing the third-fewest points of any team in the league.
All of that points to a low-scoring affair, so take a look at both teams to combine for less than 44 points at 10/11.
This is a clash between two teams that, despite their poor record, will believe they can win the division.
The Dallas Cowboys have major injury issues with a tough schedule ahead and the Philadelphia Eagles are a mess on offence.
It will be very interesting – these NFC East divisional games will be absolutely key for every team this season.
