20/37 – St Louis Rams to beat San Francisco 49ers
The St Louis Rams are in the exact same spot as they were last year, and it feels like they are one or two players away from being a very good team.
Their defence is stellar – they have been superb against the other two great teams in their division but they just need a quarterback and a receiving threat to put everything together.
The 49ers season ended almost as quickly as it began and it is looking like they may have the biggest rebuilding project in the NFL ahead of them in the off-season.
Jeff Fisher gets one more year as he will finish 8-8 while San Francisco hope and pray that they can find at least three players in next year’s draft to give them some kind of relevance again.
20/21 – Detroit Lions to beat Chicago Bears
It has been an up-and-down season for both teams to say the least but the Detroit Lions will be the most hopeful that they can finish the season stronger.
Matthew Stafford has played much better in recent weeks under a new offensive co-ordinator and while there are big decisions to be made on the head coach and Calvin Johnson, a victory in what could be their final game would not be surprising.
The Bears are still in rebuild mode and while there are positives, they still need a lot of fixing and a lot less chocking next season.
John Fox is a great coach and both will be better next season, but expect Motor City to take the bragging rights in this no-consequence affair.
6/4 – Minnesota Vikings to beat Green Bay Packers
The big game on Sunday pits two NFC North rivals against each other in a fight to see who wins the division and potentially hosts a play-off bout between them in a week’s time.
The Vikings are coming off the back of giving the New York Giants a real beating, where their offence finally made complete sense and their defence continued to dominate.
Green Bay took a pounding of their own as they were embarrassed by the Arizona Cardinals, who could not stop sacking Aaron Rodgers even if they wanted to.
The Packers offensive line had it bad last week, but their twin-city counterparts are even scarier up-front and could really derail a team thst may beat again in the playoffs.
5/8 – New York Jets to beat Buffalo Bills
What a difference a year makes.
The New York Jets look like a different team and a win in this one guarantees that they will get at least one more game this season.
Todd Bowles has really brought structure to this team – Darrell Revis and Brandon Marshall were great trades and who would have thought that Ryan Fitzpatrick would bring so much to the table?
The Bills, on the other hand, have peetered out dramatically and a talented unit faces an uncertain future as they look to make all of their pieces fit.
It will be a bitter pill for Rex Ryan to swallow and he would love to eliminate his former team, but this Jets side have too much for Buffalo to deal with.
10/29 – Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Oakland Raiders
A spectacular turnaround was completed last week as the Kansas City Chiefs went from a 1-5 start to making the play-offs.
It has been a great ride in the last nine games and one more win could give them the divisional title, something that an incredibly deep roster would cherish.
Oakland have shown enough to suggest that they will come back with a vengeance next year with an exciting young roster stacked with potential All-Pro talent.
However, this is Andy Reid’s day and with his top-notch defence facing off against a team without its main threat in Amari Cooper who hobbled out the rest of the season, this one is a no-brainer.
