Wednesday racing tips: Moulin Booj to star at Bath

Phill Anderson's best bets for Wednesday's racing include selections from Bath, Lingfield, Cork and Hexham.

This is a busy day of racing, with seven meetings between the UK and Ireland; six on the Flat plus a jumps meeting at Hexham. We have a bet at three of the Flat meetings plus one over the jumps.

MOULIN BOOJ @ 3/1 (Bath 2.50)

KARAT KARAT @ 4/6 (Lingfield 4.15)

QUEEN OF THUNDER @ 10/11 (Cork 7.10)

HAPY LE VIE @ 7/5 (Hexham 7.18)

Moulin to star

At Bath, the SJB Chef Services Handicap over the minimum trip can go the way of MOULIN BOOJ (3/1) for George Scott and Rob Hornby.

This Sioux Nation gelding got off the mark at Wolverhampton over this trip before probably finding testing ground too much, while still finishing second, at Ffos Las next time.

Last time out at Thirsk, he was stretched by 6f but still ran creditably in defeat. The return to 5f on a lively surface is exactly what he needs and he can get back on the winning trail.

La Vie to stay Hapy

Over jumps at Hexham, HAPY LA VIE (7/5) looks the one to beat in the concluding event, the At The Races App Expert Tips Handicap Chase over three miles.

This lightly-raced gelding got off the mark when making all to win over C&D in June and should have enough improvement on this third chase start to defy a 6lb higher mark.

The only negative is the fact that he has been off for a while but he was declared to run at Market Rasen recently only to be pulled out when many fences were omitted from the race. He can get the job done for James Ewart and Danny McMenanin.

So Be It was runner-up to the selection back in June and has continued to run well since, so could be the main danger.

Karat Karat to double up

At Lingfield, KARAT KARAT (4/6) can take the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Novice Stakes over 1m4f.

This well-bred filly carries a penalty for her easy win in a Yarmouth novice race last time over 1m2f but can defy that for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. She is by Derby winner Australia and a half-sister to Group 3 winner Al Aasy, won stays this trip strongly, so will probably even improve for stepping up in distance.

Humanity, trained by the Gosdens, was very disappointing on seasonal debut having undergone wind surgery but could prove to be the main danger if returning to the level of his juvenile debut form.

Queen to reign

At Cork, the best value bet on the card could be QUEEN OF THUNDER (10/11) in the Irish Stalliion Farms EBF Rated race over 7f for two-year-olds.

This filly by high class sire Night Of Thunder showed signs of greenness when third in a Curragh maiden on her recent debut over the same trip and should have improved nicely from that.

She receives 6lb from the sole winner in the field, Aidan O’Brien’s The Caribbean, and can make the most of that to get off the mark for trainer Ken Condon and rider Billy Lee.
