The racing broadcaster is cutting all three of last week's runners from his tracker, despite another win, and reveals the identity of his latest recruit.
We had three runners last week and, while Strong Johnson (4-1f) and Gregory (7-1) disappointed, Circe (3-1f) gave us another profit with a comfortable win in a juvenile race at Doncaster.
All three, however, are now discarded.
Strong Johnson has now had three runs since being added. That will be the maximum for any horse unless they qualify again as an eyecatcher which, in this case, he clearly didn’t.
Gregory was added solely for the St Leger and had every chance, so the angle that it was the pace that beat him in the Voltigeur was clearly wrong.
Circe now has too wide a range of options to be sure where she goes next and, like Skellet and Shuwari, having done the business on her next run is let go.
Shuwari, incidentally, may run in the Rockfel but has had a slight setback and missed a bit of work so just bear that in mind if she makes Newmarket. I am still hoping Cherry Blossom will turn up there from our current list.
Added is Larado who was too close to an overly strong pace at Epsom and did well to finish as close as he did. The first three home were all held up at the back while Larado was not far away from the early dash, leading fully from 2f out, and was entitled to get tired. He does go well at Epsom, who still have a meeting left on Arc Day (1 October) where the last race on the card is another 7f handicap, which would be ideal.
Outgun runs on Wednesday at Sandown in the 16:50 where there looks to be a favourable pace set-up for his hold-up style. He needs to be settled at the back because he is keen early, so having three potential front-runners in the field looks perfect.
