The racing broadcaster has added a new recruit to his stable of tracked horses, while another is let go.

A quiet week but nearly a memorable finish as our only runner Larado ran a terrific race to finish second at 50-1. He had initially been put in for a race at Epsom, which he side stepped, and going right-handed seemed not to be ideal when he hung out around the bend at Kempton on Wednesday evening. He stuck on really well, however, and was actually coming back at the winner close to home. After such a good run he is retained but the feeling is we may have missed the boat at his price.
On the same day, Brioni was a non-runner at Newmarket in a race that looked too strong. Her maiden run at Sandown has not worked out well but she is retained, though the fact her purchase price rules out lower Restricted races may make her harder to place than I had hoped.
One that is let go is Viewofthestars, who rather surprisingly went through the sales ring last week changing hands for just £7k. She is not going to stay with Fergal O’Brien so she is removed as that stable switch was a major reason for initially adding her.
Just one addition, Dodger Long, who made late progress in a three-year-old bumper at Exeter on Tuesday. He made solid late progress and was notably perky coming back to the unsaddling enclosure, suggesting there was still a bit of unspent energy. His trainer Milton Harris has his horses in good form and his half-brother won for the yard on the Flat and over hurdles. He looks well-bought at just £3k and should go well next time.

He looked an improved horse when scoring on his first run for Chris Gordon at Plumpton. The handicapper has not missed in raising him 8lb but he was very quick over his hurdles and is still only five, so there may still be some upside. Recently turned conditional Fred Gordon is also able to claim a useful 3lb.
