Just one year after his professional debut, Nico de Boinville earned worldwide fame after winning the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup on Coneygree, who was the first novice chaser to win the race in more than 40 years. Since then, he has won 17 Cheltenham races, ridden more Grade 1 winners than any active British jump jockey, and earned more than £6million.

Jango Baie

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle: Nico de Boinville has won three Supreme Novices’ Hurdles, making it one of his most successful events at the Cheltenham Festival (alongside the Arkle Challenge Trophy and Queen Mother Champion Chase). His first win came on Altior in 2016, followed by Shishkin in 2020, and Constitution Hill in 2022.

Christmas Hurdle: With five wins at Kempton Park’s Christmas Hurdle, Nico de Boinville ties with the legendary Tony McCoy as the most successful jockey in the event’s history. His first victory in the race came in 2018 when he rode Verdana Blue, but he’d have to wait until 2021 to earn his second win with Epatante. Since then, de Boinville has been on a hot streak, partnering with Constitution Hill, whom he has ridden to three consecutive victories between 2022 and 2025 (that’s four in a row for de Boinville).
Celebration Chase: Another record that de Boinville has broken is the most victories in the Celebration Chase at Sandown Park, with five. His first win here came in 2016, when he finished first on Sprinter Sacre. Following this, he landed an impressive three-peat with Altior, going unbeaten between 2017 and 2019. Eventually, Jonbon would earn de Boinville his fifth Celebration Chase win in 2024.
