How to read Champion Bumper betting odds

At Betway, we present our Champion Bumper odds in fractional terms. This means that each horse is assigned a fraction to represent its chances of winning. The smaller the fraction, the more likely the horse is considered to win the race.

You can work out how much you could earn from a fractional bet by dividing your wager by the number on the right, then multiplying the result by the number on the left. You can also use a betting calculator to easily see how much you could earn.

Example of a Champion Bumper bet

To give you a real-world example of reading Champion Bumper betting odds, let’s say Quiryn has odds of 10/1 to win, while The Irish Avatar has odds of 2/5.

Placing £10 on Quiryn would return £110 if he wins the race (10 ÷ 1 = 10, then 10 x 10 = 100, plus the original £10 stake).

On the other hand, a £10 bet on The Irish Avatar would return £14 in total (10 ÷ 5 = 2, then 2 x 2 = 4, plus the original £10 stake).

This shows that Quiryn is deemed less likely to win than The Irish Avatar; but if you correctly predict him as the Champion Bumper winner, you could see a much larger return from your wager.

Where to bet on Cheltenham Champion Bumper odds

At Betway, we offer up-to-date betting odds on all the biggest races of the Cheltenham Festival. You can find the current Champion Bumper odds, with bets available for each horse in the race, as well as ante-post options for the event’s most likely competitors.

Different types of Champion Bumper betting

There are plenty of wager types you can place on the results of the Champion Bumper, so you can play your way. Here are some of the most common bet types you’re likely to come across in your betting journey:

Accumulator

Accumulators, also known as ‘acca’ bets, combine wagers from multiple races into one package. You’ll need all of your predictions to come true for a payout, but the returns can be huge compared to single bets.

If you’d like to get more out of your Champion Bumper bet, try brushing up on some Cheltenham Day 2 trends and place an accumulator bet on some of the other races. You could earn a much larger return than if you placed a single bet!

Winner

When it comes to Champion Bumper betting, the ‘winner’ market is one of the most popular bet types. These bets simply predict which horse will win the race. If your chosen competitor doesn’t finish in first, you won’t receive a payout, so make sure you choose wisely.

To place

Confident that a horse will race well, but unsure if it will finish in first? Try placing a bet on your horse ‘to place’, rather than to win.

These bets will give you a payout if your horse finishes towards the top of the field, typically in the top 3 or 4, depending on the size of the race.

Each way

Each way bets combine two bets into one package. By choosing this option, you’ll place one wager on your horse to win its race, and another on it to place. This provides a bit of insurance if your chosen horse misses out on the top spot, but can provide even bigger winnings in the event of a win.

Ante-post

Ante-post bets are placed far in advance of the race, often before the full list of competitors has even been announced. Since there’s a chance your chosen horse won’t take part in the race, these bets often have longer odds, meaning you could receive a bigger payout.

Who to bet on in the Cheltenham Champion Bumper

The Champion Bumper is known for its unpredictability, so choosing the right racehorse for you can be a tricky task, especially if you’re new to the world of betting on horse racing.
