Crowne Plaza Invitational: Jordan Spieth to triumph on home soil

With over a month past since Spieth´s last victory, the young American will be determined to get another tour victory under his belt in front of an expectant home crowd.

The Masters’ champion will finally look to end his pursuit of a first victory in his home state this weekend, as some of the world´s best travel to Texas.

He will be joined by 10 of the top 35 in the world rankings at the Colonial Country Club, in what looks to be an exciting field for this year´s Crowne Plaza Invitational.

However, Jordan Spieth will still remain heavy favourite amongst bookmakers and punters alike, despite the strong field. So far he has come agonisingly close to securing his maiden victory in Texas, finishing runner-up in both Houston and San Antonio in the spring. Jordan will no doubt use these narrow losses as motivation for this weekend, as he looks to make it third time lucky.

The Colonial Country Club is a course renowned for its tight fairways and numerous doglegs, making it ideal for those players who are known for their shot-making. As we saw in this year´s Masters, Spieth is a man with a huge variety of shots at his disposal and this course should favour his style of golf. He has also been making very few mistakes of late, playing good solid golf for several months now.

If he maintains this form going into this weekend, then you can expect to see Spieth well within contention and leading from the front from the first tee. If he does get up ahead of steam early, then he is one of the hardest men on the circuit to chase down, a trait we saw shine through in the Masters.

Back Jordan Spieth to storm his way to victory on home soil at (5/1).

Jimmy Walker, Spieth´s closest rival in the FedExCup rankings, will also be a strong contender this weekend, alongside fellow American Jason Dufner, who finished runner-up last year.

However, the one man who knows what it takes to win at this course, having one last year´s event, is Adam Scott.

The Australian capped a superb comeback in last year´s event, to see off Dufner in a very tense play-off, to become the first winner of the Texas Grand Slam. Scott is a man that likes to feel at ease when he plays and often thrives on courses where he has had past success. As a previous champion, and a serial winner in Texas, he is likely to be Spieth´s biggest rival this weekend.

Scott will be aiming to join Ben Hogan as the only back-to-back winner so far at the event in Colonial, a title that will unquestionably spur the determined Aussie on this Thursday.

Back Scott to win once more, or for a good each-way bet, at (33/1).
