Premier League Team of the Week: Gameweek 34
Premier League Team of the Week

Week 34 of the 2025/26 Premier League season was an important one for the teams battling to beat the drop, while at the other end of the table Arsenal reclaimed top spot.

The Gunners failed to dazzle but delivered a crucial 1-0 win at home against Newcastle United to move three points clear of a Manchester City side who were occupied with FA Cup semi-final matters.

Meanwhile, at the bottom end of the standings, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur picked up victories as the scrap to avoid the drop continues.

Here is our team of the week for Gameweek 34.

Goalkeeper – Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest produced the standout result of the week with an impressive 5-0 away victory at Sunderland on Friday night.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels was a rock at the back, especially in the nervy early stages before the Tricky Trees took the game away from the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

Defender – Andy Robertson (Liverpool)

He might be on his way out of Liverpool this summer, but Andy Robertson continues to make an impact at left-back for the Reds.

The Scotland skipper did his defensive duties and also scored an important second goal for Arne Slot’s side to take the game away from Crystal Palace in what ended up as a 3-1 victory for the hosts at Anfield.

Defender – Gabriel (Arsenal)

One of Arsenal’s two centre-backs to make the cut for this team of the week, Gabriel was instrumental in helping the Gunners keep a clean sheet.

Newcastle have been a bogey team for the Gunners in the past, but Gabriel helped keep the Magpies at bay at St James’ Park.

Defender – William Saliba (Arsenal)

Newcastle had 13 shots but only two on target at the Emirates and William Saliba had an important role to play in preserving that clean sheet for Arsenal.

It was a tense and nervy game in north London following the Gunners’ defeat to Manchester City, but Saliba and Gabriel were rock-solid to ensure a potentially crucial victory.

Defender – Joachim Andersen (Fulham)

Fulham produced a strong defensive performance to beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Craven Cottage and Joachim Andersen was a standout player on the day.

Making more tackles, interceptions and clearances than any of his Cottagers’ team-mates, Andersen shone against a Villa side with a host of dangerous threats in the final third.

Midfielder – Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

Liverpool impressed in their win over Crystal Palace and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister was at his influential best in the middle of the park.

Providing assists for Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, the Argentinian was the creative spark on a number of occasions for the Merseyside outfit.

Midfielder – Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)

Coming into form at such an important time of the season, Morgan Gibbs-White again impressed for Nottingham Forest as they dispatched Sunderland 5-0 on Wearside.

Providing an assist in the 31st minute before grabbing a goal of his own just three minutes later, if Forest do go on to avoid relegation, Gibbs-White will have certainly played his part.

Midfielder – Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

If Arsenal are indeed the side who lift the famous Premier League trophy at the end of the season, Eberechi Eze’s winner against Newcastle will certainly be in the highlight reel.

One of the few moments of real quality in the final third for the hosts, the England international’s curling effort into the top left corner was an absolute beauty.

Forward – Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)

West Ham needed their big names to deliver at home against Everton on Saturday and Jarrod Bowen did just that in a crucial 2-1 win for the Hammers.

Providing assists for both goals, including the winner in the 92nd minute, the Premier League table would look very different were it not for Bowen’s efforts at the London Stadium.

Forward – Callum Wilson (West Ham)

The battle to avoid the drop will all be about big moments and West Ham striker Callum Wilson produced just that with his winner against David Moyes’ Everton.

Wilson only had three minutes on the field before scoring, but the value of that goal simply can’t be understated, as the Hammers battle with Spurs to avoid dropping down to the Championship.

Showing composure with the finish to send the bubbles flying in the stands at the London Stadium, it was a big time for Wilson to deliver that goal.

Forward – Igor Jesus (Nottingham Forest)

With a goal and an assist against Sunderland, Nottingham Forest’s Igor Jesus completes this team of the week.

The 25-year-old Brazilian was excellent in that first half at the Stadium of Light and he fully deserves his spot in this side.
