Premier League Team of the Week: Gameweek 33
Premier League Team of the Week

Week 33 of the 2025/26 Premier League season produced some huge moments at both the top and bottom ends of the table.

Manchester City edged out Arsenal 2-1 in the clash of the top two at the Etihad on Sunday, while Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw at home with Brighton adds to the uncertainty regarding Spurs’ hopes of avoiding relegation this season.

Here is our team of the week for Gameweek 33.

 Goalkeeper – Bernd Leno (Fulham)

Producing one of the saves of the season in Fulham’s goalless draw with Brentford, Bernd Leno earns the spot between the sticks.

The Bees’ Dango Ouattara thought he was going to score with a close-range effort, but Leno stuck out an arm to somehow tip the ball over the crossbar to earn the Cottagers a valuable point in their bid to secure European football.

Defender – James Justin (Leeds United)

Scoring an acrobatic overhead kick for Leeds United’s opening goal in a 3-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, James Justin gets the nod here.

Also helping the Whites keep an important clean sheet, it was another strong performance from Justin, who has played an important role at Elland Road in recent months.

Defender – Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City)

A left-back who continues to play as though he’s been in the Premier League for years, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly was outstanding in their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Providing the assist for Erling Haaland’s winner, O’Reilly helped produce one of the biggest moments of the weekend.

Defender – Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Scoring the winner in the 100th minute in the Merseyside derby, Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk makes the cut for this team of the week.

A typical header from the Dutchman from a corner, Van Dijk broke Evertonian hearts at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to help claim three important points for the Reds and also local bragging rights.

Defender – Ayden Heaven (Manchester United)

In the absence of the suspended Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven really stood up in Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Chelsea.

Heaven made four clearances and blocked four shots at goal in a strong performance from the 19-year-old central defender

Midfielder – Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)

Highlighted in the post-match comments by manager Michael Carrick for his efforts, Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo deserves his place in this team of the week.

Rarely giving the ball away and making a number of crucial interceptions, Mainoo showed how influential he can be in the middle of the park for the Red Devils.

Midfielder – Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)

Arguably with the performance of the weekend, Morgan Gibbs-White walks into this team following his efforts in Nottingham Forest’s 4-1 comeback win at home to Burnley.

With the Tricky Trees trailing at the break, Gibbs-White scored a second-half hat-trick in the space of 15 minutes to help Forest on their way to a crucial victory at the City Ground.

Midfielder – Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

It seemed at times like there were several Bernardo Silvas on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Portuguese star was everywhere and his leadership on the field helped Man City secure what could be a season-defining victory over the Gunners.

Midfielder – Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)

Producing a sensational opening goal on Sunday, Rayan Cherki continues to dazzle in his first season in the Premier League.

Cutting through the Arsenal defence with his quick feet, Cherki’s goal set the tone on a memorable day for Man City.

Midfielder – Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)

Another top performance from Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes, who is finding form at the business end of the season.

Providing the assist for Matheus Cunha’s winner against Chelsea, Fernandes led from the front once again for the Red Devils.

Striker – Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Pipping Haaland to the striker position in this team of the week, Ollie Watkins delivered in Aston Villa’s 4-3 victory at home to Sunderland on Saturday.

With two goals and an assist, it’s hard to overlook Watkins’ contribution against the Black Cats at Villa Park.
