Arsenal answered the call in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon as Mikel Arteta's Gunners got back on track against a lacklustre Tottenham Hotspur side managed for the first time by Igor Tudor.
It was Eberechi Eze who stole the show for the visiting side, his second time dominating the derby in as many appearances and the Arsenal man takes his place in the top-flight team of the week, alongside a record-breaking 40-year-old!
Here is our team of the week for Gameweek 27.
Goalkeeper – Djordje Petrovic (Bournemouth)
It was a London Stadium stalemate between West Ham and Bournemouth and the Cherries had goalkeeper Petrovic to thank for his hand in the first ever nil-all draw between the teams.
His right hand, to be exact. He got down to deny West Ham early on after Axel Disasi’s header looked sure to go in. The same right glove, with a reaction stop, denied Callum Wilson an immediate goal after he came on in the second half.
Right-back – Matheus Nunes (Man City)
When Matheus Nunes joined City from Wolves he was very much a midfielder by trade, but Pep Guardiola has crafted him to be a very handy option at full-back.
He won his three duels defensively, put in two dangerous crosses at the other end and was generally efficient with the ball.
Left-back – Lewis Hall (Newcastle)
Lewis Hall had the aid of a deflection for his goal at the Etihad Stadium that drew Newcastle on level terms against Man City, but he had a strong performance overall to go with his second top-flight goal and he’s very much on the radar for England’s World Cup squad.
Centre-back – Dan Burn (Newcastle)
Newcastle dominated City for long spells and Burn deserves inclusion for his 90-minute duel with Erling Haaland (both players are included here).
Booked as early as the ninth minute, Burn played his part against the Citizens’ star frontman and was unlucky to have a goal chalked off for offside.
Centre-back – Calvin Bassey (Fulham)
Fulham inflicted Sunderland’s second home defeat of the season with a 3-1 win that helped them into 10th place.
Calvin Bassey was strong at the back, unbeaten in aerial duels and made eight clearances along with one interception in a commanding display.
Midfielder – James Milner (Brighton)
James Milner is 40. On Saturday he made played his 654th Premier League match, beating the mark set by Gareth Barry.
He came close to marking the occasion with a first-half goal but dragged an effort just wide, but he was a calming presence in a Seagulls side that earned a first away league win since November.
James Milner is 40 – remember how your 5-a-side legs started to go around then? Nearly 25 years on from his Premier League debut, Milner fully merits his distinction for most appearances.
Midfielder – Nico O’Reilly (Man City)
Another City player benefitting from life under Guardiola, Nico O’Reilly came into the first team squad as a full-back but he was deployed in a midfield three against Newcastle and came up with both goals.
The 20-year-old has talent to burn and is another young star that Thomas Tuchel must consider carefully for this summer’s world tournament.
Midfielder – Anton Stach (Leeds)
Leeds United schemer Anton Stach caught World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emi Martinez napping as he curled home a wonderful free-kick at Villa Park from all of 35 yards.
It looked like being a match-winner before Tammy Abraham’s fortuitous late leveller but, were it not for Stach’s crucial tackle on Tyrone Mings, Villa would probably have been pushing for a winner by then.
Striker – Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)
Eberechi Eze had made the north London derby his plaything. Having netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 Gunners win back in November, another two followed in Sunday’s crucial encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Arsenal gained three vital points in the title race with another dominant 4-1 victory.
Only Robert Pires (7) and Emmanuel Adebayor (6) have more Premier League goals for the Gunners against Spurs than Eze (5) and the Lilywhites are in a relegation scrap to ensure they stick around to give the England international a chance to do more damage next season.
Striker – Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal)
Eze’s Gunners team-mate Viktor Gyokeres also had an afternoon to remember. The Sweden international netted a brace, including the all-important second just after half-time when he curled a powerful, instinctive shot home from 20 yards.
He also played a big hand in the third goal and no Premier League player has scored more goals in 2026 across all competitions than Gyokeres’ eight.
Striker – Erling Haaland (Man City)
No goal for Erling Haaland on Saturday night, but he showed that his game is about more than rattling the net.
His stand-up cross for O’Reilly’s second goal was the sort he himself thrives on and he battled with Burn all night long in a real old-fashioned duel where no quarter was given and both excelled.
He was denied his goal late on by Nick Pope but, more than that, Haaland was back at the other end with three key contributions in his own penalty box as City were forced to win ugly for once.
No player won more duels (18), aerial duels (5) or had more dribbles (5) than Haaland and his defensive contributions highlighted the strings he has added to his bow.
