Newcastle lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in their last home game, but had scored at least twice in all five of their matches at St James’s Park prior to that.
Southampton have scored in 11 of their last 12 Premier League games, only failing to find the net against Arsenal during that run.

Ward-Prowse has scored six Premier League goals this season, all of which have come in his last 12 appearances.
Newcastle have also conceded three goals from penalties in their last six matches, and Ward-Prowse will have the added bonus of being on spot-kick duty if Danny Ings isn’t on the pitch.
Fabian Schar to be carded
Schar has been booked 11 times in the Premier League this season, the joint-most of any player.
The 27-year-old has picked up three cards in his last four appearances, including in Friday’s 1-0 win over Leicester.
Ryan Bertrand to be carded
Bertrand has only played 19 times in the Premier League this season, but his eight bookings are the most of any Southampton player.
The left-back has been carded in three of his last five appearances, including both of his last two.
