Premier League enthusiasts can look forward to a bumper fixture card this Saturday, as seven intriguing ties kick off the weekend’s action.
Three of the day’s headline contests have been selected for television coverage, with the Merseyside derby, Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford, and a capital city clash between Fulham and Brentford all unfolding in front of the cameras.
Elsewhere, Ange Postecoglou attempts to register his first league win as Nottingham Forest boss against Burnley, struggling duo Leeds United and Wolves meet at Molineux, Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton entertain third-placed Spurs, while Crystal Palace make the short journey across London to face West Ham.

Reds to win entertaining derby
Both teams have delivered positive performances in recent weeks, but Liverpool are overwhelming favourites to secure all three points in the first Merseyside derby of the campaign.
The Reds have netted a colossal 47 Premier League goals at Anfield under the stewardship of Arne Slot, who will become the fifth quickest manager in the competition’s history to witness his side register a half-century of home strikes if they can put three or more past their local rivals on Saturday. However, Liverpool have failed to keep three consecutive clean sheets for almost a year, so won’t be banking on another shut-out after 1-0 victories over Arsenal and Burnley.
Everton are an entirely different proposition this term, having made several marquee signings in the summer and already amassing seven points. Nevertheless, the Toffees – and their manager – have a poor record against Liverpool. David Moyes has never won a top-flight match at Anfield throughout his managerial career, despite making 20 attempts to do so.

Low scorer expected at Molineux
Wolves have triumphed in each of their last four encounters with newly-promoted outfits, but haven’t registered five wins in a row in such contests for over six decades. Ironically, it was Leeds United who put this previous sequence to an end in August 1964.
Saturday’s opponents are both lacking a clinical edge in the final third, generating just three league goals between them so far. This doesn’t seem likely to change at the weekend.
Matches involving Leeds United have witnessed fewer shots on target than those contested by all other Premier League teams, with just 19 accurate attempts at goal overall. Since narrowly beating Everton on the opening weekend, the Whites have netted just once across all competitions.

Spurs may struggle on the road
Following their continental exertions in midweek, Spurs will hope to register a third consecutive league victory on the road for the first time since 2020 on Saturday afternoon. However, the omens don’t look good for the reigning Europa League champions.
Brighton recorded back-to-back wins over Tottenham during the 2024/25 campaign, and also defeated them at the AMEX the season prior. On that occasion, Joao Pedro converted two penalties to help the hosts triumph in a six-goal thriller.
Thomas Frank has drawn three of his last six meetings with the Seagulls, and would probably take a point from what is undoubtedly a tricky away day to navigate.

Draw the order of the day at Old Trafford
The most drawn fixture in Premier League history, the writing appears on the wall for Saturday evening’s tie between Manchester United and Chelsea.
The Red Devils haven’t been beaten in the league by Chelsea on home soil since a 1-0 loss in May 2013, when Sir Alex Ferguson oversaw his penultimate match at Old Trafford as Manchester United boss.
However, seven of the following 12 fixtures ended in a stalemate, as have 15 other Premier League clashes between these giants of English football.
Remarkably, this will just be the second time Enzo Maresca’s men have played outside of London this season, after travelling to Bavaria to face Bayern Munich in midweek.
